摘要: A stringed musical instrument, such as a guitar or a bass, has a body portion and a second portion, such as a neck, adapted to be attached to the body portion. The musical instrument further has a locking system for releasably securing the second portion to the body portion and for maintaining proper alignment between the body portion and the second portion. The locking system further maintains the second portion in a constant position with respect to the body portion.

摘要: The invention provides an improved method of collecting biogas from a landfill that results in more complete collection of biogas produced in the landfill, and with less contamination with air. The method involves providing the landfill with an upper gas containment layer near the surface of the landfill to retard biogas escape and air entrainment into the landfill. Underneath the gas containment layer is provided a gas-permeable conductive layer. Underneath the conductive layer, a well withdraws biogas from the landfill. Withdrawal of biogas from the well creates a partial vacuum that draws gas from the gas-permeable conductive layer down through the waste mass to the well. If the rate of gas withdrawal from the well is too rapid, air will be entrained from the atmosphere into the gas-permeable conductive layer. But if the rate of gas withdrawal from the well is too slow, biogas may percolate through the gas-containment layer and the surface of the landfill to escape. Monitoring the gas composition of the gas-permeable layer allows one to determine quickly and continuously whether the rate of gas withdrawal from the well is too fast or too slow.

摘要: An apparatus for extracting groundwater from a well extending below the static groundwater table includes an extraction pipe having a distal end located a predetermined distance below the static groundwater table, and a proximal end adapted for communication with a source of subatmospheric pressure. The extraction pipe includes a "bubbling hole" a short distance above a static water column established in the well to introduce air bubbles into the extraction pipe to augment the vacuum in lifting the water through the extraction pipe. A method of extracting groundwater employing this apparatus includes the steps of (1) measuring the height of the static water column in the well; (2) providing an extraction pipe having a proximal end, a distal end, and a hole located axially along the length of the extraction pipe at a specified distance from the distal end thereof; (3) extending the extraction pipe into the well so that the distal end of the extraction pipe is located at a first predetermined distance below the static groundwater table, and the hole is located a second predetermined distance above the static water column in the well; and (4) applying a subatmospheric pressure to the proximal end of the extraction pipe, the magnitude of the subatmospheric pressure being sufficient to lift the groundwater through the proximal end of the extraction pipe with the assistance of air bubbles introduced into the extraction pipe from the well through the hole.

摘要: A silt fence patch for repairing damage to silt fence is disclosed. A silt fence patch may comprise geotextile fabric, an adhesive layer, and a backing. The backing may include indicia of patches, such as patch weave direction, user instructions, or logos. A silt fence patch sheet may comprise multiple silt fence patches. The sheet may include a backing with indicia of each patch, or indicia of the patches may be printed directly on the sheet fabric. A method of repairing damage to silt fence may comprise identifying damage to the silt fence. A damage boundary may surround the damage. The method may further comprise identifying a patch size to cover the damage boundary. The method may further comprise selecting a patch having the identified patch size. Additionally, the method may comprise applying the selected patch to the damage boundary and smoothing the patch over the damage boundary.
