摘要： A roller with controllable sag is provided with a revolving hollow roller and a non-rotating crosshead that crosses the hollow roller along its length and on which the hollow roller is supported by a series of supporting elements that are actuated by a pressure medium. Separate supply lines (13) lead to the supporting element and open out into a collection head (40) at the end (10') of the crosshead, to which the outer connection lines (53) are connected. The connection head (40) comprises a double-disc rotary slide valve (50) by which the lines (13, 53) can be interrupted and which in the closed state can be separated at a separation surface (47). The individual discs (51, 52) of the double disc rotary slide valve (50) keep both the supply lines (13) and connection lines (53) closed, thus facilitating replacement of the roller as and when required.

The elements can be pressed against the inside circumference of the hollow roller by means of a hydraulic fluid. The support elements have a length not exceeding 20 cm in the longitudinal direction of the hollow roller, follow each other closely in the longitudinal direction of the cross-beam, and can all be controlled independently of one another.

摘要： A widening device for increasing the width of a moving web of material comprises a rotatable profiled roller, the outer surface of which defines a plurality of radial projections and recesses distributed along the length of the roller and first and second co-operating rollers rotatable at the same speed as the profiled roller. The first and second co-operating rollers define projections and recesses complementary to those of profiled roller and define first and second treatment nips which serve to increase the width of a web of material passed therethrough. The projections on the co-operating roller defining the second treatment nip extend more deeply into the recesses of the profiled roller than do the projections on the co-operating roller which defines the first treatment nip so that the web of material is stretched gradually over two stages with the stretching effect being uniform across the entire width of the web.

During the plunging action, the hydraulic fluid is displaced out of the cylinder and flows away, in a throttled state, between the piston and the cylinder and/or through especially provided choke bores, so that the damping effect is attained.
