摘要： A process for producing a smooth-sided strand-based siding or wood structural panel using a secondary pressing process. The secondary pressing process is performed after the primary process completes pressing and consolidation of the substrate/board. The secondary process applies and cures the overlay after applying a water spray on the hot board immediately out of the primary process press, and before overlay application. The application of the water spray causes the surface of the board to swell and cure. A settling period follows to allow the top surface particles and strands to swell along with absorption and evaporation of the moisture. This is followed by surface sanding to remove the telegraphing and produce a smooth surface, which is then followed by lamination of the overlay(s). The process is completed by post-lamination treatment and coating of the board.

摘要： A forming box for use in dry forming of a mat of fibrous material, and a forming method. The forming box comprises a housing with an open bottom providing direct access for fibers onto an underlying forming wire and a vacuum box underneath said forming wire; an inlet for supplying fiber material into the inside of the housing; and a number of fiber separating rollers in one or more rows in the housing between the fiber inlet and the housing bottom. An endless belt screen is provided inside the housing having an upper run between two rows of spike rollers and a lower run closer to the open bottom of the forming box. Fiber clumps captured on the lower run of the belt screen are conveyed above fiber separating rollers and are released from the upper run of the belt screen into contact with the fiber separating rollers.

摘要： A method of making a headliner assembly includes providing a porous member having first and second sides. A negative pressure is developed on the second side of the porous member, and particulate material is selectively deposited proximate the first side of the porous member to form a particulate layer having an outline that corresponds with a desired outline of the headliner assembly. The particulate material is drawn toward the first side of the porous member by the negative pressure developed on the second side of the porous member. The particulate layer is then thermoformed to form the headliner assembly.

摘要： A method and apparatus for distributing reinforcement fibers includes a chute for supplying reinforcement fibers, the chute having an outlet end, and a metering belt mounted for endless travel along a first path at the outlet end of the chute. The metering belt has elongate members with tips extending outwardly from the metering belt, to define a volume between the tips and the metering belt. The tips of the metering belt pass sufficiently close to the chute so that fibers having penetrated the volume formed by the elongate members are carried away by the metering belt. The metering belt is also mounted for endless travel along a second path around a curved surface which causes adjacent elongate members to spread apart and diverge from each other, thereby causing the fibers to be discharged from the metering belt. A collection surface receives the discharged fibers.
