摘要: Arthroplasty components include an articular surface and a bone-facing surface. The bone-facing surface bears at least one anchoring element adapted for an oblique implantation trajectory. The articular surface includes a larger radius of curvature in the superior-inferior direction than in the anterior-posterior direction. An inferior chamfer may be present on the articular surface. Instruments and implantation methods are also disclosed.

摘要: A posterior spinal fusion system may include pedicle screws and one or more segments designed to be attached to the implanted pedicle screws via nuts to fuse spinal motion segments in a modular fashion. The pedicle screws may have semispherical receiving surfaces, and each segment may have mounting portions at both ends, with corresponding semispherical engagement surfaces. The nuts may also have semispherical surfaces. The semispherical surfaces permit polyaxial adjustment of the relative orientations of the segments and pedicle screws. Each mounting portion may have a passageway therethrough to receive the proximal end of the corresponding pedicle screw; each passageway may intersect the edge of the corresponding engagement surface to facilitate percutaneous placement. Such placement may be carried out through cannulae to provide a minimally invasive (MIS) implantation procedure.

摘要: Radial head prostheses and trialing devices. A radial head prosthesis includes a head component and a stem component, and may include an intermediate component. The head component may be offset from the stem component. The head component includes a bearing surface having an axis of rotation, which may be radially and/or angularly offset from the central longitudinal axis of the stem component. A radial head trialing device may include cutting edges for resection of a distal radius. Another trialing device may allow for adjusting the radial offset and/or angular position of a trial head component from a trial stem component.

摘要: Facet fixation implants include a cap member with a circular base portion and an eccentric raised portion. The raised portion includes first and second lobes and is smoothly contoured to provide an unobtrusive profile when implanted. Beveled teeth project from the implant to provide fixation and compression across the facet joint. The cap member includes an offset aperture which receives a fastener. Tools, guiding instruments and methods for implantation of the implants are disclosed.

摘要: A surgical instrument for grasping and controlling a guide wire includes a male member having a longitudinal slit in communication with an inner hollow bore and a female member having a longitudinal slit in communication with an inner chamber. The male member is rotatably engageable within at least a portion of the female member. A method of threading a guide wire into a surgical instrument includes engaging a male member within a female member, rotating the male member relative to the female member until a longitudinal slit of the male member is aligned with a longitudinal slit of the female member; inserting a guide wire through the slits and into an interior of the male member and female member; and rotating the male member relative to the female member until the slits of the male member and female member are not aligned, trapping the guide wire within the surgical instrument.

摘要: An orthopedic apparatus is provided for bridging a first bone unit to a second bone unit. The apparatus is demonstrated on a finger joint, wherein one of the bones and/or ligaments and/or tendons of the joint is/are injured. A method for implanting and using the apparatus also is presented. The apparatus includes a reformably deformable span portion which is generally circular and preferably rhombic. By deforming or reforming the span portion, it can be repositioned laterally, and/or it can be rotated to allow range of rotary motion so as to promote healing.
