    摘要： The cartoner has been designed to form cartons from blanks, whereby the formed cartons have tapered concave sides. A unique series of elements, including capture lugs which hold and “bow” the carton blank, together with plow rods and oscillators which have curved metal plates are used to “pre-break” the score lines of the blank. Travelling pressure blocks having convex outer surfaces are used to press the concave sides of the carton while hot glue dries, whereby the unique, tapered cartons are properly formed.

    摘要： This disclosure relates to a machine for turning articles, packages or the like through approximately 180* to present the package in a desired position for subsequent processing. The machine preferably includes a plurality of pairs of chambers each of which receives a package formed from web material. Within each chamber is a platform which is progressively retracted after the packages have been severed from the web material whereupon the influence of gravity progressively tips each package during its discharge from its associated chamber. Cooperative movable and stationary guides assure the subsequent discharge of the packages to a take-away conveyor, while a vertical guide blade disposed generally in a plane between the packages maintains spacing therebetween during discharge and subsequent take-away. In addition to being tipped or turned over the packages are oriented to a desired position by providing the platforms with edges ranging from 0* to 60* relative to a plane normal to the direction of movement of the platforms.

    摘要： Packaging apparatus in which units to be wrapped and flexible packaging material for wrapping the units are fed forward with the units spaced apart in the direction of feed, with a dwell interval between successive feed cycles, and having means for forming a seal across the width of the material between two successive units during each dwell interval. The units are fed forward by conveyor means intermittently driven via a chain and sprocket drive including a crank rotatable about a predetermined axis, means for continuously rotating the crank in one direction about its said axis, a first sprocket secured to the crank with the axis of the first sprocket offset from the crank axis for rotation of the first sprocket about the crank axis without rotation of said first sprocket about its own axis, a second sprocket and a chain trained around said first and second sprockets. The sealing means is operated during the dwell intervals by a similar chain and sprocket drive mechanism.
