    摘要: E-type and F-type yokes improve the ability of the yokes to be constructed having lighter weight yet function to handle loads from car coupling assembly components, such as, for example, a coupler mounted on the yoke. The E-type and F-type yokes have straps and openings provided in the straps, and are constructed from austempered ductile iron. Embodiments may be constructed with a tail or butt portion that includes sloped walls that form cavities in the butt portion of the yoke, where a supporting structure spans between the yoke rear wall and the draft gear seat wall.

    摘要: A support assembly suspends the end of an elongated flexible member such as the end of an elongated railroad air brake hose in a predetermined elevation. The assembly includes an elongated suspension strap having spaced apertures which are elongated lengthwise of the strap and resilient wire attachment clips, each formed of a single piece of wire. One of the clips attaches the strap to a fixture on the end of the rail car and another attaches the strap to the end of the air hose. Each clip has a first end terminating in a hook which is dimensioned to pass through a selected strap aperture when the clip is angularly positioned relative to the length of the strap but which is retained within the aperture when the clip is oriented lengthwise of the strap. The clips further comprise a first arm which extends from the hook, and a second arm which is joined to the first to form a U-shaped portion which is capable of being grasped by the hand of a worker. The two are resiliently biased away from one another but are sufficiently flexible so that the second end may be relatively easily squeezed towards the first and captured by the hook at the end of the first leg. A loop at the end of the second arm is depressible by the thumb of the hand of a worker gripping the U-shaped portion to facilitate capturing the end of the second arm within the hook.

A method of using the non-metallic wear plate for railroad car couplers to center a coupler and protect it against wear.

    摘要: A telescoping bridge plate for auto rack railroad cars for supporting automobiles being driven between railroad cars comprises a top plate with corrugations providing top surfaces separated by grooves, with the top plate having an overlapping end portion and a locking end portion, a bottom plate with corrugations providing top surfaces which seat beneath the top surfaces of the top plate, and grooves which seat beneath the grooves of the top plate, with the bottom plate having an overlapping end portion and a locking end portion, and with the top plate overlapping end portion and the bottom plate overlapping end portion being in sliding overlapping engagement. A cross bar holds the top and bottom plates together and prevents them from separating vertically, and a bridge plate connector is mounted on the locking ends of the top and bottom plates to connect the bridge plates to adjacent auto rack railroad cars so that the bridge plate extends between the adjacent auto rack railroad cars and motor vehicles may be driven from one railroad car to another over the bridge plate to load or unload the autorack railroad cars.

    摘要: A wear liner for use in a railroad freight car between a truck bolster bowl and a car body center plate comprises a non-metallic wear liner bowl which has a horizontal bottom floor, and an upstanding circumferential side wall extending upwardly from the periphery of the bottom floor to a top flange which forms an upper rim. A sealing member extends outwardly from the upper rim and has an upper lip which extends outwardly and upwardly to contact a base shoulder of the center plate. The sealing member also has a lower lip that extends outwardly and downwardly to contact a top shoulder of the truck bolster bowl. The floor and circumferential side wall of the wear liner are made of a harder synthetic resin plastic material than the synthetic resin plastic material of which the softer sealing member is made. The composite sealing member lips are outboard of the side wall of the car body center plate and the truck bolster bowl so as to be out of the way when the center plate is being lowered into the truck bowl.
