    摘要: An arrangement for passive gas sampling of a breathing gas in a breathing system allows sampling during both inspiration and expiration. The arrangement has a tube-piece having a first connector for receiving an inspiratory gas flow, a second connector for delivering an expiratory gas flow and a third connector for delivering the inspiratory gas flow and receiving the expiratory gas flow, a first port arranged between the second connector and the third connector and connected to a measurement chamber, a second port arranged between the first connector and the third connector and connected to the measurement chamber and a third port arranged between the first connector and the second connector and connected to the measurement chamber. The tube-piece is formed such that when an inspiratory flow passes through the tube-piece, a flow is established principally between the first port, the measurement chamber and the second port, and that when an expiratory flow passes through the tube-piece a flow is established principally between the third port, the measurement chamber and the first port.

The control unit is adapted to control the peak amplitude of the oscillatory electromagnetic force to sequentially apply a number of different peak amplitudes, each during a different measurement period. A monitor detects changes in the opening position of the valve during each of the measurement periods and provides a measure thereof. A processor is connected to the control unit and to the monitor to determine a working amplitude of the oscillatory electromagnetic force at which the detected changes will be minimized and to supply the determined working amplitude to the control unit.

The suction device and the pump are formed by a first chamber and a second chamber, respectively, in an enclosure, separated by a gas-tight, moving partition. The control unit regulates the moving partition to regulate the suction device and the pump for achieving simpler and more reliable operation.

    摘要: In a method of and apparatus for deriving indices characterizing atrial arrhythmias, a temporally isolated portion of a digital representation of a time-domain electrical signal originating from the atria of a patient is frequency analyzed to provide a corresponding frequency spectrum. The obtained frequency spectrum is compared with a template frequency spectrum, selectively adapted dependent on previously obtained frequency spectra from different temporally isolated portions, to determine a frequency shift value and an amplitude value that optimize a correlation between the two spectra. An output representing the two determined values is used, possibly together with parameters describing the template frequency spectrum, to classify an atrial arrhythmia manifest in the digital representation.

    摘要: In a method for assessing pulmonary stress, a volume of respiratory gas is received from the lungs of a subject, an ensuing pressure is measured and the pressure-volume (P-V) relationship is analyzed. The analysis includes a determination of the profile of the pressure-volume (P-V) relationship. The profile is straight when no stress is present, convex when there is a risk for over-distension and concave when alveolar units are opened up. Implemented in a breathing apparatus the method can be used to assist an operator in diagnostic and therapeutic considerations in relation to a patient.

The ventilator further has a flow controller adapted to apportion, between the distal end of the conduit and the outlet, the volume of gas supplied by the oscillator unit to establish a predetermined inspiration tidal volume for delivery to the patient's airways independent of the oscillator volume.
