摘要: A device provides a first data signal that indicates an activity of at least one muscle of a patient that is relevant for an inspiratory breathing effort and a second data signal that indicates an activity of at least one muscle of the patient that is relevant for an expiratory breathing effort. The data signals are generated from electromyography (EMG) signals detected by surface electromyography sensors. A computer is configured to determine breathing phase information on the basis of a breathing signal and to check at least one of the electromyography signals or at least one of the separated signals for detectability of a heart signal component and further to assign the signals to an inspiratory breathing activity as well as to an expiratory breathing activity of the patient as a function of the breathing phase information.

摘要: This disclosure describes systems and methods for monitoring and evaluating data associated with ventilatory parameters to detect expiratory airflow limitation in a ventilated patient. For example, a ventilator may monitor flow and/or pressure during ventilation of the patient. Based on the flow and/or pressure measurements, or ventilatory data derived therefrom, the ventilator may calculate expiratory resistance. Moreover, the ventilator may trend expiratory resistance over time to produce an expiratory resistance waveform. In embodiments, the ventilator may calculate the slope of the expiratory resistance waveform during an initial part of exhalation. If the slope of the expiratory resistance waveform during the initial part of exhalation breaches a defined slope threshold, the ventilator may determine that the patient exhibits expiratory airflow limitation.

摘要: In some embodiments, a system for improving a user's breathing includes a mask configured to be positioned on a user's face to deliver gas to the user, a first oral appliance arch configured to be worn in the user's mouth on the user's mandibular dentition, a first tension element coupled to the first oral appliance arch, an adjustment device coupled to the mask, and a control system. The adjustment device is configured to receive the first tension element and to adjust the position of the first tension element to adjust the forward position of the first oral appliance arch, such that the when the mask is positioned on the user's face and the first oral appliance arch is worn on a user's mandibular dentition, the forward position of the user's mandible is adjusted.

摘要: A ventilator (1) determines states with cough attacks and an operating method for a ventilator determines cough attacks. It is determined on the basis of pressure measured values (13, 21, 19) and flow measured values (11, 15, 17) whether consecutive elevations of an airway pressure in a ventilator (1) are due to one cough event or due to a plurality of cough events. A plurality of cough events indicates a state of a cough attack. An output (41, 42, 44) of a warning (44) or alarm (42) is issued indicating the state.

摘要: Described is a system including a sensor and a processing arrangement. The sensor measures data corresponding to a patient's breathing patterns. The processing arrangement analyzes the breathing patterns to determine whether the breathing patterns are indicative of a REM sleep state. In another embodiment, the processing arrangement analyzes the breathing patterns to determine whether the breathing patterns are indicative of one of the following states: (i) a wake state and (ii) a sleep state. In another embodiment, a neural network analyzes the data to determine whether the breathing patterns are indicative of one of the following states: (i) a REM sleep state, (ii) a wake state and (iii) a sleep state. In another embodiment, the processing arrangement analyzes the data to determine whether the breathing pattern is indicative of an arousal.

摘要: Systems and methods for triggering inspiration and/or cycling exhalation with a ventilator are described herein. In particular, systems and methods for synchronizing ventilator breath delivery with patient breath demand utilizing a digital sample counting trigger mode are described herein. The digital sample counting triggering mode characterizes digital samples taken from a measured or estimated parameter during the patient inhalation/exhalation period to synchronize breath delivery with patient breath demand.

摘要: A hemoglobin measuring device comprising a controller, a first oxygen sensor, a second oxygen sensor, a first volume flow meter, and a second volume flow meter. The controller is operable to receive data from each of the first and second oxygen sensors, the first and second volume flow meters, and a pulse oximeter associated with a patient. The controller is also operable to determine a hemoglobin level of the patient, defined as a determined hemoglobin level, based on the data received from the first and second oxygen sensors, the first and second volume flow meters, and the pulse oximeter.
