Air entering the channel is ejected from the orifices, creating force acting on the contents of the cavity thereby causing ejection. An apparatus configured for concurrently cutting, imprinting and piercing of a sheet of dough consisting of flour, water and yeast to produce imprinted loaves is disclosed. Arrays of molded frames each containing edged borders and an emboss pattern are placed onto the surface of a cylinder member configured for rotating onto a sheet of dough to simultaneously cut out loaves, imprint the loaves with the emboss pattern and pierce the loaf with pins. The emboss pattern contains areas raised above the surface of the cylinder member and recessed areas below that surface. The emboss patterns include a plurality of Coptic religious symbols that are imprinted onto the loaves to form a Korban used for ceremonial purposes. The emboss pattern is heated and initiates a par-baking process when the cylinder member engages the dough. The formation of the Korban loaves is completed by baking the loaves in the oven.

The die is rotatably attached to the frame and may be removed to change to other dies having different image surfaces. The pie top conveyor transports a continuous or non-continuous top sheet of pie dough between the die and the counter surface. The conveyor and die are made with substantially non-compressible and non-stick surfaces. After an image is formed in the top sheet of pie dough, the sheet is transported from the exit of the die to a corresponding pie bottom located on a lower conveyor and then to an oven for baking.

In one preferred form, methods and apparatus are provided for cutting individual confectionery products from a slab or strip of product material into a product with a particular silhouette. In another form, the invention provides methods and apparatus for both cutting and forming individual confectionery products from strips or ropes. The process can be used for simply forming products from pre-cut segments or other blanks of confectionery material, including imparting a relatively precise texture, finish or detail to such products. The products may, but need not, be subsequently enrobed in chocolate or another coating. In still other embodiments, the confectionery material may comprise grains of a puffed cereal. In some instances, a matrix of plasticizable material holds the grains together and the confectionery material may also include, in addition to the puffed cereal, candied fruit bits, dry fruits, nuts, or the like. In some cases, the puffed cereal may be held together by surface contact between adjacent grains instead of being held by the matrix.

This provides a bread dough roll which can have a cross-section of intentionally varying thickness.

The method comprises the further step of spraying water, steam or hot water, spreading grain powder, or applying edible oil or fat, onto the forming blocks prior to filling the food material into the forming blocks. The method permits the continuous mass production of three-dimensionally formed foods with stable quality.
