    摘要： A seaming apparatus is formed from an elongated plate that is inextendible in both longitudinal and lateral directions. An upper surface of the plate is divided into multiple, transversely spaced and longitudinally extending zones. In the preferred embodiment, three such zones, including two edge zones spaced by a central zone, are provided. Numerous elongated upstanding sharp projections are provided in each of the edge zones and an adhesive layer is provided in the central zone. A peelable protective cover is arranged atop the adhesive layer. A thin adhesive layer with a peelable protective cover may be placed on a lower surface to secure the seaming apparatus to a supporting surface.

    摘要： An apparatus for aiding in the installation of carpet is provided. The apparatus can have a planar member with a cleat mat disposed on a bottom surface thereof, the cleat mat having a plurality of cleats extending therefrom. In some embodiments, the cleats can extend from the cleat mat at an angle. The apparatus can be configured to hold two pieces of carpet in place when being seamed together. The apparatus can also be configured to support or confine a tube of a dead-man carpet stretching tool. The apparatus can also be configured as an anchor for a dead-man carpet stretching tool.

The captive tacks function in much the same manner as a conventional tack strip, however, the conventional tack strip cannot bend around a curve. The flexible tack strip can follow a curvature with ease. The flexible tack strip can be secured to the floor or any other surface, including in wet areas with a variety of fastening devices and compositions.

The gripper is formed as one piece and can either be manufactured from a single thermoplastic material or else the body and barbs can be manufactured of first and second thermoplastic materials, respectively, where the second material is harder than the first material. Where the gripper is to be made of first and second materials, a method of manufacture is provided where the second material is injection moulded into channels in the body to form the barbs.

    摘要： A carpet fastening system and method of manufacture in which an exemplary two, complementary, substantially identical carpet fastening strips are fashioned along side, but opposed to, one another in interdigitated fashion from a single, longitudinally elongated or extended section of flat sheet metal in a cutting-bending process, each of which fastening strips (100, 200 & 300) is ultimately affixed to the back-side of the a wall board (10) or to a wall baseboard (8), preferably with its wall engagement tabs (101, 201 & 301) being substantially flat, presenting either a flat, face-to-face, extended surface interface (FIGS. 1A & 2A) with the back-side of the wall or at least preferably a continuous or at least substantially extended edge (FIG. 3A) in engagement with the back-side, bottom edge of the wall baseboard, in order to secure "wall-to-wall" type carpeting about the walls. The strips are manufactured so as to be installed either at the same time as the baseboards are installed or even when the wall boards are being installed. As a result of manufacturing two complementary strips from a single piece of metal, the manufacturing and material costs and installation costs are reduced, making the metal fastener a cost-effective, superior replacement for the wooden carpet fastening systems of the prior art. The wall engaging tabs and the gaped spaces between them all have equal widths.

The plate has a substantially smooth lower surface which enables the plate to readily slide upon a supporting surface. An upper surface of the plate is divided into multiple, transversely spaced and longitudinally extending zones. Numerous upstanding sharp projections are provided in each of the edge zones and an adhesive layer is provided in the central zone. A peelable protective cover is arranged atop the adhesive layer. With respective edge portions of two carpet sections secured to the plate through the projections and the adhesive, the carpet sections can be readily power stretched with the plate being free to slide relative to the supporting surface upon which the carpet is arranged.
