Abstract: An orthopaedic surgical system for use in a direct anterior approach orthopaedic surgical hip replacement procedure on a patient's femur includes a stem insertion instrument having an offset locking shaft to install a cementless femoral stem component into a surgically-prepared intramedullary canal of a patient. Abstract: Hip arthroplasty trial systems and associated medical devices, methods, and kits are described that can be utilized in situ to complete a femoral head trial. An example embodiment of a hip arthroplasty trial system includes a medical device and a femoral stem. The medical device has a head member, a spacer, a shaft, and a locking member. The spacer is disposed within the head member and is moveable from a first position to a second position. The shaft is disposed within the head member and contacts the femoral stem. The shaft is moveable from a first position to a second position. Movement of the shaft from the first position to the second position moves the spacer from its first position to its second position. The locking member is disposed within the head member and releasably attaches the shaft to the head member.

Abstract: Surgical tools which are used to separate from one another a femoral cup and an acetabular ball in an implanted hip replacement prosthesis. At its distal end, elements of the surgical tool engage the femoral cup and the acetabular cup. When proximal handles of the tool are squeezed toward one another, the engagement elements move away from one another. Thus, a surgeon is able to separate the femoral cup and the acetabular ball from one another without pulling the acetabular cup away from the acetabulum or the femoral cup and/or femoral implant away from the femur, thereby accomplishing the separation without disrupting any bone ingrowth.

Abstract: The present application is directed a Joint Revision Surgery System and Method which includes a surgical osteotome blade guide block which has a plurality of rearward blade guide slots, a central cavity and a plurality of forward guide slots having a two-way adjustable L-shaped guide plate. The surgical osteotome blade guide block central cavity houses a stem trunnion securing and is secured to the prosthesis to be extracted. The guide blade block is secured to the trunnion of the prosthesis to be extracted using a stem trunnion securing member housed within the guide block. Straight, curved, flexible and rigid and compound curved osteotome blades are guided by the blade guide slots to cut the implant free from the bone. The Joint Revision Surgery System and Method facilitates rapid, efficient and complete removal of an existing prosthesis during joint revision surgery, and significantly increases positive medical outcomes for joint revision procedures.
