摘要： A garment having integrated prosthetic breasts is disclosed. The garment includes an inner front layer, a middle component which includes at least one, and ideally two prosthetic breast members. The prosthetics are lightweight so that no elastic across the torso is needed. An outer front layer covers the middle component. The middle component is formed of a mesh layer which is sewn to the inner front layer only at the neckline and arms, and has an open bottom edge. The prosthetic breast members are attached to the mesh layer and provide shaping for mastectomy patients or other individuals having a need or desire for natural looking shaping.

摘要： Absorbable implants for breast surgery that conform to the breast parenchyma and surrounding chest wall have been developed. These implants support newly lifted breast parenchyma, and/or a breast implant. The implants have mechanical properties sufficient to support a reconstructed breast, and allow the ingrowth of tissue into the implant as it degrades. The implants have a strength retention profile allowing the support of the breast to be transitioned from the implant to regenerated host tissue, without significant loss of support. Three-dimensional implants for use in minimally invasive mastopexy/breast reconstruction procedures are also described, that confer shape to a patient's breast. These implants are self-reinforced, can be temporarily deformed, implanted in a suitably dissected tissue plane, and resume their preformed three-dimensional shape. The implants are preferably made from poly-4-hydroxybutyrate (P4HB) and copolymers thereof. The implants have suture pullout strengths that can resist the mechanical loads exerted on the reconstructed breast.

摘要： Devices and methods for non-invasive implant rupture detection are described herein. Some variations of a non-invasive implant rupture detection device comprise a single optical waveguide, such as a silicone fiber, embedded in the shell of the implantable device where one end of the optical waveguide is connected to a photo emitter and the other end of the waveguide is connected to photo detector. An optical signal successfully transmitted from the photo emitter through an intact optical waveguide to the photo detector indicates that the implant shell is intact, while an optical signal that is transmitted by the photo emitter, but not detected by the photo detector, indicates that there is a discontinuity or rupture in the shell. The status of the implant shell is wirelessly communicated to an external reader and provided to a patient and/or a practitioner.

摘要： A breast prosthesis fabricated from silicone and characterized by an outer shell shaped region and an inner shall-shaped region wherein the inner region is profiled in the form of rings arranged concentrically around the mamilla. The rings may be formed bellows-like adapted to be pushed toward one another when pressure is exerted on the prosthesis. Annularly shaped recesses and beads may be arranged between the rings. The inner region may consist of lower density silicone gel having a firmness of lower penetration value but firmer than the outer region. Preferably, the outer region is slightly thicker above the manilla than below the manilla, and may have a third shell shaped region arranged between the outer and inner shell shaped regions. A recess can be provided in the lower part of the prosthesis to define an air cushion for permitting silent release of air from the prosthesis responsive to pressure applied against the prosthesis.

The silicone rubber material is confined by outer front and back polyurethane films, and the chambers are divided by an intersitial film. The films are welded together along their common peripheral edge. The silicone rubber in the back chamber which is placed next to the chest wall is softer than that in the front chamber, and conforms to the shape of the chest wall following surgery.
