摘要: A corneal irrigation system, for removing a color pigment(s) from an intracorneal channel, includes a syringe, an irrigation device, and a flexible tube coupling the syringe to the irrigation device. The irrigation device includes a handle, having a distal end and a proximal end, that is coupled to the cannula. The handle also includes a lumen. The cannula includes (i) a shaft section having a first end that is coupled to the handle's proximal end, (ii) a curved section having a blunt tip, wherein an exterior surface of the curved section includes a rough-surface region, and (iii) a lumen having an opening in the rough-surface region, the lumen extending from the first end of the shaft section toward the blunt tip. The cannula's lumen is coupled to the handle's lumen.

摘要: Tissue manipulation during ocular surgery may be achieved by a variety of systems and techniques. In particular implementations, a system may include spaced apart levers, hinge members, a grasping mechanism, and a guide mechanism located between the levers. A first hinge member may extend from one of the levers to the guide mechanism and move the guide mechanism in one of a proximal or distal direction when the levers are moved toward each other. The grasping mechanism may be coupled to the guide mechanism and extend distally from the guide mechanism. A second hinge member may extend from one of the levers and be coupled to a tube that surrounds a portion of the grasping mechanism. The second hinge member distally displaces the tube when the levers are moved towards each other. The relative motion of the guide mechanism and the tube may cause actuation of the grasping mechanism.

摘要: Intraocular pressure can be reduced by insertion of an intraocular shunt in the eye such that it forms a drainage pathway between the anterior chamber and a region of lower pressure. A hollow shaft can be advanced through the anterior chamber with the hollow shaft (a) having a beveled tip at a distal end of the hollow shaft and (b) holding an intraocular shunt with a proximal end of the shunt within the hollow shaft. The sclera can be penetrated with the hollow shaft. A beveled surface of the beveled tip can be oriented such that the beveled surface faces toward the Tenon's capsule when the beveled tip passes out of the sclera. After the beveled tip passes out of the sclera, at least a portion of the shunt can be advanced from the hollow shaft.

摘要: An ophthalmic treatment apparatus and procedure for removing the epithelium of the cornea of the eye and for foreign body removal from the cornea or conjunctiva using sonic and/or ultrasonic energy, includes a brush for removing the epithelium of the cornea and a motor drive for sonically and ultrasonically vibrating the brush. The motor drive can be included as part of a handle connected to a brush head, and can include a generator for producing either sonic or ultrasonic energy within the handle and a transducer in electrical communication with the generator. The brush has a surface adapted to be applied against and substantially parallel to the cornea. The ophthalmic treatment apparatus can be used in combination with an ophthalmic fixating device which serves as a guide to provide a demarcation line or area for epithelial removal by the brush.

摘要: A medical system capable of giving different treatments in a row to a patient comprises a first treatment apparatus, a second treatment apparatus, an operation unit, a memory, a communication unit and a selection switch. The first treatment apparatus has a first treatment unit for a first treatment and a first control part which sends a control signal to the first treatment unit based on a first setting signal for the first treatment. The second treatment apparatus has a second treatment unit for a second treatment different from the first treatment and a second control part which sends a control signal to the second treatment unit based on a second setting signal for the second treatment. The operation unit has an indication part and an operation part, and is capable of inputting the first and second setting signals at different times, and the two signals are then transmitted to the first and second control parts respectively by the communication unit. The memory is capable of storing two groups of data, one of which concerns a first operating screen for the first treatment and the other concerns a second operating screen for the second treatment. Any one of the two groups of data is selectively read from the memory and displayed on the indication part, based on a mode-selection signal which has been inputted through the selection switch for selecting any one of a first-treatment mode and a second-treatment mode.
