摘要: A single use hyperdermic syringe (20) having a one-way valve (56, 62) to prevent refilling and a retractable needle (30). A needle connector (26) and a needle hub (28) with needle (30) form an assembly (40) with a cavity (52) for the passage of liquid. An elastically-deformable sealing ring (56) and a movable sealing member (62) in the cavity are configured to form a seal, after a single use of the syringe, against a flow of liquid into the syringe barrel (22). Locking pins (76) on the piston engage the needle connector when the barrel is emptied, whereby the needle is retractable into the barrel by moving the plunger (24) in the proximal direction.

摘要: A pump including a disposable component including a disposable component inlet port coupled to a first disposable conduit in fluid communication with a fluid medium source, wherein the first disposable conduit includes a disposable piston pump assembly and a disposable bubble eliminator, and the first disposable conduit is in fluid communication with a disposable component outlet port, wherein the disposable bubble eliminator is in fluid communication with a lumen of the first disposable conduit and is operable to reduce a gas content of a fluid medium; wherein the disposable piston pump assembly is operable to pump the fluid medium from the disposable component inlet port, through the first disposable conduit and the disposable bubble eliminator, to the disposable component outlet port; and a reusable component including a reusable movable stage operable to compress the disposable piston pump assembly; and a reusable mechanical actuator operable to drive the movable stage.

摘要: A single use syringe in which the single use aspects are accomplished by a lumen spike which is forced into the lumen bore to seal the passageway from the syringe body to the hypodermic needle. Fail-safe characteristics to prevent bypassing the single use provisions are provided by having a frangible area of the endwall holding the lumen break out at a force less than that required to force the lumen spike out of the lumen bore. This aspect can also be used to improve other approaches to single use syringes. The lumen spike can be formed as part of the piston/plunger and the piston/plunger can be a unitary device useful in all syringes.

摘要: A single use hypodermic needle syringe is constructed in a manner which provides for the automatic self destruction of the fluid passage during the initial use upon the first complete injection stroke. Because the fluid passage is destroyed upon the first initial use of the hypodermic needle syringe, the syringe is rendered useless and must be discarded. Because the syringe is discarded after one use, the spread of infectious diseases will be inhibited.

摘要: A disposable syringe for use in a needleless injector includes a tubular body with an open rear end, a closed front end containing an injection orifice, a chamber in the body for receiving a liquid and a plunger slidable in the chamber for pushing the liquid out of the orifice. A tip is provided on the inner end of the plunger for separation from the remainder of the plunger to block the orifice when the plunger is retracted after an injection, whereby the syringe cannot be re-used.

摘要: There is provided a syringe assembly comprising a first, self contained cylindrical storage means (211) containing a first substance (212) and a second, self contained, cylindrical storage means (213) containing a second substance (214). The second storage means is slidably received by the first storage means and is adapted to pierce a slidable sealing element of the first storage means for mixing of the first and second substances in the first storage means. Axially driving the sealing element of the first storage means effects ejection of the resulting mixed substance from the syringe for delivery to a patient. There is also disclosed a syringe assembly with a safety sheath for covering a needle of the syringe when in an extended position and which is slidable from the extended position to a retracted position to expose the needle for use.

摘要: A single-use syringe includes a barrel having front and rear passageways and a shoulder disposed there between, a plunger movable in the rear passageway, a carrier having a tail portion extending from a front end wall of the plunger, and pushing and retained regions formed forwardly of the tail portion, and a deformable sealing member in fluid-tight and slidable engagement with the barrel. The sealing member includes an inner surrounding wall surface with a yielding segment engaging the pushing region, and a retaining segment in frictional engagement with the retained region by a frictional force so as to confine a fluid-tight surrounding area. The frictional force is diminished when the yielding segment is depressed by the pushing region so as to facilitate release of the retained region from the retaining segment, thereby disrupting the fluid-tightness of the surrounding area and rendering the syringe unreusable.

摘要: A syringe assembly having needle isolation features includes an elongate barrel having an open proximal end, a chamber for retaining fluid and a tip portion extending from a distal end of the barrel having a passageway therethrough include communication with the chamber. A valve housing extends outwardly from the tip portion of the barrel having a conduit therethrough in communication with the passageway. A needle cannula having a proximal end, a distal end and a lumen therethrough is provided. The proximal end of the needle is connected to the housing so that the lumen is in fluid communication with the conduit. The housing includes internal valve for allowing liquid under pressure in the chamber to flow distally through the conduit and the lumen while preventing unpressurized liquid in the chamber from flowing through the aperture. The internal valve includes a one-way valve structure for preventing liquid flow through the conduit in a proximal direction toward the chamber.

摘要: A plunger activated capping system is disclosed which includes a syringe body defining a fluid reservoir, a plunger assembly including a plunger rod and a sealing member supported on the plunger rod, and a luer cap releasably secured to a distal end of the syringe body. The luer cap includes a luer-type connector member and a fluid outlet. A luer cap plug is releasably supported on a distal end of the plunger rod at a location distally of the sealing member. The luer cap plug is movable into engagement with the luer cap to seal the fluid outlet of the luer cap upon advancement of the plunger assembly from a retracted position to an advanced position. The plunger assembly is configured to effect disengagement of the luer cap from the distal end of the syringe body when the plunger assembly is moved to the advanced position.
