An apparatus for color blending an agglomerating flowable material from a differently colored individual batches, to mold a mottled heterogeneous product with material from at least two batches so that mottled products (i.e. with irregular arrangement of spots or confluent blotches of color) are produced from a relatively dry concrete mixture (zero slump concrete), which agglomerates into clumps that tumble randomly from individual hoppers containing individually colored concrete batches. By controlling positioning of a filling tray relative to a hopper outlet, the time sequencing and quantity of material released from each hopper outlet, it is possible to fill the filling tray in a large number of seemingly random mottled patterns where clumps of each of the individual colors remain visible in the molded product.

A new device and method for measuring large production flows of e.g., one to fifty tons per hour with products such as mill products having unfavorable flow behavior. The production flow is directed intermittently into an upright weighing container for a brief time and is compulsorily discharged from the latter substantially horizontally so as to be controlled with respect to speed. The production flow is periodically monitored volumetrically and gravimetrically by means of differential weighing.The use of the method suggests that the production flow in a mill be measured by means of differential weighing for the purpose of controlling, e.g., monitoring the work process prior to wetting, e.g. as mill input capacity, e.g. for monitoring in the milling process, e.g. for the flour weigher.

A system for combining, mixing, and further processing ingredients to produce a specified weight of a composition in accordance with a specified recipe. The ingredients are discharged from hoppers into a central conveyor. Each hopper operates under control of a hopper controller that regulates the discharge rate and controls refilling of its associated hopper. The ingredients are mixed in the central conveyor as they are transferred to a processing device, such as a mill or roaster, and then discharged from the processing device into a network of conveyors for transfer to another location for further handling. The system operates under the control of a central controller which regulates the discharge rates of the various ingredients to optimize the feedrate to the processing device. The central controller also monitors the weight of the processed product in a production run and compares it with the specified total weight for the run in order to shut down the system when the specified total weight has been processed.

The specification discloses a conveyor apparatus for combining programmed amounts of materials. The apparatus includes a conduit horizontally supported by a frame. The conduit has a plurality of inlet openings along the side for receiving the materials to be combined and a discharge orifice at one end for discharging the materials. A plurality of metering dispensers, each having a discharge opening, communicate with the inlet openings in the conduit in order to dispense a programmed amount of materials into the conduit. A cylindrical conveying piston is slidably positioned within the conduit, and moves along the conduit to move the materials within the conduit to the outlet orifice. The metering dispensers include a material sweep rotatably positioned at the bottom opening of a storage hopper. A distributor ring is positioned beneath the hopper opening and rotates with a cylindrical metering surface. Material is metered through the bottom opening in the storage hopper and then through the cylindrical metering surface by rotation of the distributor ring.

The new invention is directed to a continuous mixing and homogenizing plant, particularly for mill products. In so doing, the simultaneity of the mixing of all raw components in a pre-mixing space 8 is ensured in particular, so that subsequent continuous homogenization is also possible so as to meet the strictest demands. The utilized component weigher 4 and the assigned screw discharge 25 are constructed so as to be substantially tubular and together form a differential flow regulator 6. The inner surface of the entire system contacted by the product is accordingly tubular and is subjected to a continuous self-cleaning as a result of the movement of the product. Further, it is possible to arrange a plurality of component weighers 4 in a geometrically identical manner with respect to a collecting point 17 and a very high quality of mixing is obtained.
