Abstract:
Dry to pasty materials are mixed in a preferably cylindrical container with the aid of a mixing rotor which, like the container, has a horizontal axis and is eccentrically journaled in the container. The rotor cooperates with a mass-shifter device likewise rotatable about a horizontal axis for passing the material batchwise and intermittently to the mixing rotor. Each time, a portion of material located close to the peripheral wall of the container on one side of the rotor is moved by the massshifter device into the active mixing range of the rotor, the quantity of material thus mixed after each shifting action is piled up on top of the main heap of material located unilaterally in the container on the other side of the rotor.
Abstract:
An apparatus for the mixing of building materals includes a cylindrical mixing-container having front and rear sides, provided with mixing tools made up of two carrier arms extending radially outwards from respective front and rear sides, and displaced from each other by 180.degree., two helically-shaped mixing tools supported by respective carrier arms and extending at an angle towards the center of the mixing container and two separately rotatable mixing tools disposed on separate respective shafts ahead of the respective carrier arms.
Abstract:
An attachment device for a mixing and kneading machine having a rotating wormshaft comprises a casing which is adapted to be attached coaxially on the casing of the mixing and kneading machine and a separate and independently driven rotatable shaft with radially arranged blades therein and a first bearing. The attachment device casing is divided into two parts, the first being provided with a heating or cooling jacket and an outlet for the emergence of the mixture and the second including the first bearing and a second bearing for the shaft and means for adjusting the blades.
Abstract:
A method for removing heat from a horizontal linear flow reactor, comprising introducing vapor bubbles into a liquid medium in the reactor and removing the vapor from the reactor. A method of producing an elastomer reinforced polymer comprising autorefrigerating the reactants in a horizontal linear flow reactor in which both initial polymerization and phase inversion occur. A method of removing heat from a horizontal plug flow reactor comprising aerating the reactants within the reactor, wherein the aeration promotes radial mixing of the reactants but does not substantially promote axial mixing of the reactants. A horizontal linear flow reactor, comprising a horizontal reaction chamber having one or more mechanical flow facilitators disposed therein and a sparger attached to the bottom of at least a portion of the reaction chamber.
Abstract:
Five fins located on a second arm engage the farinaceous material during mixing and the angled surface of each fin directs the farinaceous material in an axial direction towards the housing of the rotor, and also in a direction extending between the surface of the arm and the adjacent parallel surface of the container. The fins also cause the farinaceous material to be moved in the same two directions, with the exception that the dough is directed away from the housing of the rotor towards the central region.
Abstract:
A dough mixing and kneading machine wherein a horizontal drum has a sealable inlet opening at the top and a sealable outlet opening at the bottom. One end wall of the drum is pivotable to and from an open position and carries an L-shaped tool which sweeps along its inner side and along the internal surface of the cylindrical main section of the drum when the machine is in use. The tool is coaxial with the main section of the drum and is driven by a motor which is mounted at the outer side of the pivotable end wall. A second motor drives a shaft which extends into the drum below the axis of the main section and carries several angularly offset propellers which move the constituents of dough axially and radially of the main section.
Abstract:
A method for preparing cold water-soluble polymer particles is described. The method includes subjecting a liquid containing a wetting agent or a powder of the wetting agent to dropping or spraying over or mixing with a starting water-soluble polymer particles while fluidizing the starting polymer particles without subsequent forced drying and grinding of the resulting particles. According to the invention, a powder or particulate product of a cold water-soluble polymer having excellent water wettability and capable of being quickly dissolved in water without formation of undissolved powder can be reasonably prepared and obtained from powdery or particulate water-soluble polymers without resorting to forced drying operations.
