Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for producing polymer powder compositions which are redispersible in water and which are based on polymerisates of one or more ethylenically unsaturated monomers. In a first step, an aqueous polymerisate dispersion is produced by means of a radically initiated polymerization of one or more ethylenically unsaturated monomers in an aqueous medium, said polymerisate dispersion being convened into the polymer powder composition which is redispersible in water by means of a diving process. The invention is characterized in that the polymerization and the drying process are each carried out in a continuous manner, and the polymerization and the diving process are carried out in separate interconnected modules.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method of manufacturing spray-dried powders. During the process, a solvent is used. The process is done in multiple steps such that the emulsification mass ratio is low when removal of the solvent is started. Preferred solvents are isopropyl acetate and ethyl acetate. The invention also relates to a set-up to run the inventive process at industrial scale.
Abstract:
Embodiments of a spray-drying process for producing low aspect ratio particles of poly[(methyl methacrylate)-co-(methacrylic acid)] (PMMAMA) are disclosed. In some examples, at least 95% of PMMAMA-containing particles made by the process have an aspect ratio
Abstract:
Disclosed herein is a foamable resin composition for a foam sheet including polylactic acid resin particles, each of the particles having a particle size of about 1 μm to about 100 μm. A process for preparing a particulate polylactic acid resin includes: introducing a polylactic acid resin and then forming a molten polylactic acid spray solution; and injecting the molten polylactic acid spray solution by a melt spray method and simultaneously cooling the molten polylactic acid spray solution to obtain a particulate polylactic acid. In addition, disclosed herein is a process for preparing a foam sheet using the foamable resin composition for a foam sheet including a polylactic acid resin.
Abstract:
Provided is a method of making methylcellulose-type ether in powder form, said method comprising (a) providing a solution of said methylcellulose-type ether in water, and (b) then separating said methylcellulose-type ether from said water to produce dried methylcellulose-type ether, with the proviso that either (i) step (b) produces said methylcellulose-type ether in powder form, or (ii) after step (b), said method additionally comprises a step (c) of subjecting said dried methylcellulose-type ether to mechanical stress to produce said methylcellulose-type ether in powder form.
Abstract:
The invention describes powders for use in the production of spatial structures, i.e. molded bodies, using layer build-up methods, as well as methods for their efficient production. The powders have the special feature that they have good flow behavior, for one thing, and at the same time, have such a composition that the molded body that can be produced with the powder, using rapid prototyping, has significantly improved mechanical and/or thermal properties. According to a particularly advantageous embodiment, the powder has a first component that is present in the form of essentially spherical powder particles, which is formed by a matrix material, and at least one further component in the form of stiffening and/or reinforcing fibers, which are preferably embedded in the matrix material.
Abstract:
The invention provides a process for preparing dispersion powders by spray drying of aqueous polymer dispersions of polymers of one or more ethylenically unsaturated monomers selected from the group encompassing vinyl esters, methacrylic esters, acrylic esters, olefins, dienes, vinylaromatics, and vinyl halides with a drying gas in a nozzle atomization dryer, characterized in that the aqueous polymer dispersion (feed), before being atomized, is preheated under pressure to a temperature of 100° C. to 200° C. and is atomized at this temperature, the pressure being set such that the aqueous phase of the polymer dispersion does not boil at the temperature selected.
Abstract:
