Abstract:
Air filtration systems and methods for HVAC units in transport compartments are provided. The air filtration systems and methods described herein use electrostatic forces to capture airborne particles and include a modular design so as to be configured to the space requirements of the transport compartment and reduce air flow resistance. The air filtration system includes one or more modular filtration units. Each of the modular filtration units includes a pre-filter section, an ionizing section and a collecting section.

A filter assembly for an active field polarized media air cleaner includes a conductive screen that conducts a high voltage therethrough, a probe that delivers voltage to the conductive screen, and a conductive patch adhered to the conductive screen. The probe delivers the high voltage to the conductive screen through the conductive patch.

The air cleaner includes a main body including an inlet and an outlet, a blower fan provided inside of the main body, and configured to induce air from outside of the main body to be suctioned into the inlet and to be discharged to the outlet, a motor configured to drive the blower fan, and a fan guard to which the motor is fixed, and configured to guide air suctioned into the inlet to the blower fan, where the fan guard is provided to include a plurality of bent cross sections arranged in a radial direction at different distances from the motor.
Abstract:
An ion filtration air cleaning device for cleaning air by use of electrostatic ion attraction. Air having suspended particles is drawn into the device through an inlet by a fan. An ionization source near the inlet generates ions. Electrical charge transfers from the ions to the suspended particles. The fan pushes the air and suspended charged particles toward an outlet. A filter located adjacent to the outlet operates by electrostatic attraction and filters the charged particles from the air, allowing cleansed air to be released from the device, with a reduced level of charged particle emission
Abstract:
A corona discharge device includes a charging-section high-voltage electrode unit including a plurality of charging-section high-voltage electrodes, and a charging-section ground electrode unit includes a plurality of charging-section ground electrodes formed by flat plates. The plurality of charging-section high-voltage electrodes are arranged at intervals in a direction intersecting an airflow in an air path, and are connected to one another at at least one longitudinal end by a conductive frame portion. The plurality of charging-section ground electrodes are disposed between the charging-section high-voltage electrodes in an orientation such that flat surfaces thereof are substantially parallel to the airflow in the air path, and are connected at at least one longitudinal end by a conductive frame portion. The plurality of charging-section high-voltage electrodes and the plurality of charging-section ground electrodes are alternately stacked in the direction intersecting the airflow in the air path to be spaced apart from each other.

An electrically enhanced air filtration system is disclosed which uses rear fiber charging is disclosed. In particular, a fibrous filter may be placed in an upstream position within the system with one or more ionization arrays positioned downstream or to the rear of the fibrous filter in terms of airflow direction. The fibrous filter may include a grounded side and fiber side with the grounded side being upstream of the fiber side. The ionization array may include a plurality of electrodes each extending unidirectionally toward the fibrous filter.

Abstract:
The electronic air filter has a pair of pads between which a grid is sandwiched. The pads are composed of glass fiber or like filtering medium while the grid is composed of two or more pads of carbon interconnected by a network of filaments having a cotton core surrounded by a graphite sheath. The grid is connected to a source of electrical power at a voltage at which a corona field develops around the grid with resulting polarization of the grid.
