    摘要: Disclosed is a process for the preparation of metal vessels, which comprises lap-bonding both the circumferential end portions of upper and lower members, each consisting of a seamless formed metal cup, through a layer of a hot adhesive interposed therebetween, wherein a high frequency induction heating coil is arranged so that the coil covers a part, smaller than the semicircle, of the circumferential portion to be formed into a seam, which circumferential portion consists of said end portions engaged with each other through the hot adhesive layer, electricity is applied to the heating coil to induce an eddy current passing through said end portions and the circumferential portion and the heating coil are rotated relatively to each other, whereby both the end portions are heated and a seam is formed by heat bonding.

    摘要: A metal vessel has a metal bottomed cup-shaped lower member and a metal cup-shaped upper member, the upper and lower members being bonded together by a circumferential side seam. The upper member has a pouring mouth having a small diameter in the central portion thereof. The metal vessel is formed by lap-bonding the circumferential open ends of both the upper and lower members. The side wall of the upper member is formed by subjecting a primer-coated tin-plated steel sheet to draw forming at a side wall plastic forming ratio R of from 1.1 to 1.8; the side wall plastic forming ratio R being defined by the following formula: ##EQU1## wherein W stands for the weight (g) of the blank of the upper member, t stands for the thickness (cm) of the blank of the upper member at the side wall, .rho. stands for the density (g/cm.sup.3) of the blank of the upper member, D.sub.0 stands for the inner diameter (cm) of pouring mouth of the upper member, and D.sub.1 stands for the average inner diameter (cm) of the side wall.In the circumferential bonded portion, the side wall of the lower member is bonded to the side wall of the upper member through an organic adhesive interposed between a primer coating applied to the side wall of the lower member and a primer coating applied to the side wall of the upper member. The bonding strength and resistance to leakage of the lap-bonded circumferential side seam are improved.

    摘要: A can body which is reinforced by collapsed radially inwardly directed beads. The beads may either be normal to the axis of the can body or slope at an angle thereto. Maximum axial strength is obtained when the beads are normal to the axis of the can body while maximum panel strength is obtained when the beads slope at an angle to the axis. The can body is provided with normal open beads which are collapsed either during a flanging operation or a double seaming operation. When the beads slope relative to the axis of the can body, it is necessary that the originally formed open beads have configuration which will permit the collapsing of the beads while the beads remain in angular relation with respect to the axis of the can body.
