    摘要： A method of production of a component having at least one dimension that is more than 200 mm, said method comprising the steps of: a) providing a titanium aluminide melt; b) providing a cold sand casting mould; c) mounting the mould and the melt in a vacuum or inert atmosphere chamber; d) rotating the mould at a distance from a rotation axis to generate an artificial gravity in all parts of the mould of at least 30 g; e) pouring the melt along said axis of rotation into a gateway that leads the melt to a radius greater than a maximum radius of any part of the mould, the gateway being arranged to open into the mould in a direction contrary to that of said artificial gravity; f) wherein said pouring is at a speed that fills the mould in less than 5 seconds. The method is useful for the casting of long turbine airfoils used in electricity generation industry or large automotive turbocharger wheels.

    摘要： An applicator nozzle for applying a coating solution onto the molding surface of a metal mold for use in centrifugal casting. The applicator nozzle mounted on an applicator lance is provided, at its one end facing the molding surface, with a plurality of small nozzle openings which are arranged at a predetermined pitch to each other in the direction of movement of the lance into the metal mold, through which nozzle openings, a solution of coating material is emitted in solid rod-like form in such an amount as to be sufficient to complete mold coating in one way of the nozzle into the metal mold, thus producing mold coating free from an undesirable spiral pattern.

    摘要： A method and apparatus for the centrifugal casting of articles having non-uniform mass distributions with respect to an axis of rotation; the method comprises the steps of forming a sand mold in a cylindrical centrifuge, providing cavities in the sand mold adjacent the portions of the mold surface corresponding to that portion of the article to be formed which will have a reduced mass content with respect to the portion of the article formed on the opposite side of the axis of rotation of the centrifuge; conduits connect the respective cavities to the interior of the centrifuge so that casting material introduced into the mold may be fed into the respective cavities; the cross-sectional area of the conduits is chosen to meter the feeding of casting material into the cavities so that when the centrifuge is rotated the article being formed will be maintained in rotational equilibrium with respect to its axis of rotation.
