Abstract:
Preform and manufacturing process producing heterogeneous components with a first fraction (11) made from a first metallic material and having a cellular structure with stochastic or regular cells, and a second fraction (12) made from a second metallic material different from the first metallic material, in which the second fraction (12) at least partly infiltrates the cells of the first fraction (11). The second fraction is poured into the preform which also acts as a mould. The finished product after machining may have a unified surface of the second fraction or several zones exposing the second fraction, the first fraction, the cellular structure which is open or infiltrated with the second metallic fraction, or open zones, in a predetermined design.

The present invention relates to a process to produce hollow jewelry article and hollow jewelry articles produced in accordance with the said process. The process comprises a joining least two predetermined wax portions into a wax model and casting the said wax model into a partially or fully hollow jewelry article.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a high-hardness palladium alloy for manufacturing semi-finished products to be used in goldsmith's art or jewels to be obtained by the lost wax casting method, which comprises, in the following concentrations, expressed in thousandths by weight (‰): palladium from 948 to 990‰; copper from 0.0 to 50‰; indium from 0.0 to 50‰; gallium from 1 to 48‰; aluminium from 0.8 to 49.5‰; ruthenium from 0.0 to 50‰; rhenium from 0.0 to 50‰; silicon from 0.1 to 1.2‰; platinum from 0.0 to 40‰; nickel from 0.0 to 50‰; iridium from 0.0 to 40‰. In the manufacturing process of the above alloy, the component elements of said alloy are placed in a crucible, respectively made of zirconia, boron nitride or other ceramic material, and are melted using the induction method and using a protective atmosphere, respectively of argon, nitrogen or other inert gas.
Abstract:
A method of making a composite ring is provided, including the steps of manufacturing an outer ring portion having an inwardly opening outer ring portion concave recess; manufacturing an inner ring portion having an outwardly opening circumferential inner ring portion concave recess; fitting the inner ring portion inside the outer ring portion; and forcibly radially expanding the inner ring portion to fit into the outer ring portion concave recess. A composite ring is provided, including an outer ring portion having an inwardly opening outer ring concave recess; and an inner ring portion having an outwardly opening circumferential inner ring portion concave recess fitted inside the outer ring portion and forcibly radially expanded to fit into the outer ring portion concave recess. The inner ring portion inward surface preferably includes a circumferential skin gripping groove.
Abstract:
Method of multi-color jewelry items production is based on a simultaneous casting of two metal alloys of different colors (yellow-red, white-yellow, etc.), as well as two different metals, with a purpose of obtaining jewelry art-works of high-quality and unique artistic impression. To serve that purpose, the following apparatus has been constructed: rubber base with two inlets, two-chamber ceramic crucible with two identical outlets, and a model of the jewelry item with two sprues connected to two separate tree stems, with each sprue connected to a separate stem thus ensuring flow of different colors or different metals. Simultaneous casting of two different metal alloys of different colors in two separate chambers of crucible is achieved by using a specially constructed two-head torch. Usage of this invention in the process of jewelry work casting ensures a unique natural effect of smooth transition from one color to another in a jewelry piece (ring, brooch, pendant, charm, etc.), reflecting high aesthetical criteria of jewelry accessories manufacturing at the world market.
Abstract:
In an improved method and apparatus for investment casting, a pattern (31) is mounted on a sprue base (19) of an spider gasket (12) that is secured to one end of a standard investment flask (11). A solid end cap (13) is secured to the other end of the flask. The end cap is provided with a matrix of holes (15) extending therethrough parallel to the axis of the flask, and a plurality of small diameter rods (16) are slidable secured in the holes in the end cap. The rods are extended into the interior of the flask about the pattern without contacting the pattern. Investment plaster (10) is poured into the flask through the spider assembly to immerse the pattern and rods, and the plaster is allowed to set. The rods are then withdrawn, forming a large plurality of channels (32) extending into or through the investment plaster, reducing the amount of investment plaster required in the flask. The channels greatly accelerate the drying time of the investment, and hasten the subsequent burnout process in a kiln. The channels permit the escape of air from the cavity during casting, so that casting porosity is eliminated. Moreover, the channels formed by the rods are ideally placed for the strategic application of vacuum to the mold cavity during casting.
Abstract:
The wax master sprue and runner or gate form used in the investment casting process of dental prostheses has a web between the runners or gates so that the runners or gates are secured together to prevent shifting of the runners or gates during the molding of the casting material around the wax master.
Abstract:
A spruing assembly for receiving investment material in the production of an investment mold for castings by the "lost wax" process which includes a hollow chamber to receive the investment material formed by a base member and an engaging tapered ring. A horizontal feeder bar is contained within the chamber and is supported by hollow sprue means. The feeder bar is open at its top and has a narrow channel for conducting molten wax into the hollow sprue support. The base member includes a centralized sprue base former and support means associated with the former to provide support for the hollow sprue means supporting the feeder bar.
Abstract:
A casting tree for preparing a tandem mold suitable for sequential casting, within the same casting flask, of both white and yellow gold portions of jewelry items has a base with a main stem extending upwardly from the base. In addition, a secondary stem is also provided and extends from the base to an upper portion of the main stem. Both stems are formed of a fusible material generally termed as "casting wax." Disposed through the central portion of the main stem, between the base and the upper portion to which the secondary stem extends, is a piece of non-fusible material, preferable a ceramic disc. When the subject invention tree is used in an investment casting process, the casting mold formed thereby comprises a tandem mold divided by a non-fusible separator, each portion of the mold having a separate passage communicating therewith whereby two different types of material, for example, a white gold and yellow gold, can be separately cast using one flask.
