摘要: A melting pot includes a pot body and a float salvaging apparatus. The pot body is provided with a melting chamber having an open upper end. The float salvaging apparatus includes a hanging bracket, a bearing plate, a rotating plate and a drive assembly configured to drive pivoting of the rotating plate. The hanging bracket is disposed above the melting chamber. The rotating plate is pivotably disposed on the bearing plate, and the bearing plate and the rotating plate are provided on the hanging bracket between an initial position and a first salvaging position in a manner of moving up and down. The drive assembly is connected to the rotating plate.

摘要: A dart has a metal bar 1 passing through a ceramic, shaped, dart head 2 and then through a cylindrical ceramic dart stem 3. A sleeve 4 of a carbonaceous or reactive material is provided about the stem 3 or a layer of that material can be formed on the lower face 5 of the dart head 2 (at the interface of the steel and slag). A block or sleeve 6 of suitable reactive material could be positioned on the top face 7 of the dart. The reactive material could be cardboard or paper, or a reactive metal, such as aluminum or magnesium. In each case a chemical reaction with the molten steel will result in an updraft in the steel which clears slag from the area of the tap hole.

摘要: An improved vortex inhibitor for separating slag from molten metal during the discharge of molten metal through a nozzle includes a uniform castable refractory body with a regular pyramidal shape. The tapered body includes swirl obstructing surfaces extending along its length and is geometrically proportioned so that the center of gravity is closer to the apex than the center of buoyancy of the body. Preferably, the outermost parts of the base intersect a circle whose diameter is larger than the diameter of the nozzle opening and defining a base length dimensionally fixed with respect to the base length within a predetermined range. Preferably, the longitudinal height is in the range of 0.5 to 1.0 times the diameter of the circumscribed circle. A modified, spherically configured body which can be rolled into position also is geometrically proportioned to keep the center of gravity spaced from the center of buoyancy and closer toward the apex of the modified shape.

摘要: A vortex inhibitor for use in tundishes, ladles, or metal making furnaces prevents the contamination of high quality molten steel by the slag layer which rides atop the surface of molten metal within such receptacles comprises a tapered polygonal body of castable refractory material whose specific gravity is less than the specific gravity of the molten metal but greater than the specific gravity of the slag. The refractory body is buoyantly supported at the interface of the layer of slag and the molten metal and includes a weighted apex so that the apex depends toward nozzle opening within receptacle. Thus, the body centers itself within the swirl of fluid generated during discharge of the fluid through the nozzle, and the inertia of the body substantially deenergizes the vortex so as to avoid formation of a suction funnel which typically draws the slag layer into and through the nozzle with the molten metal below the previously known critical level within the receptacle.

摘要: A technique for pressurized or differential pressure casting according to the present disclosure provides a riser tube filter formed of ceramic foam having a specific gravity lower than the molten metal to be cast. A riser tube filter according to the present invention may float in and/or on the molten metal within the riser tube and smooth the flow of molten metal within the riser tube simultaneously filtering the metal. As the molten metal is depressurized, a riser tube filter according to the present disclosure will travel back down the riser tube engaging the walls of the riser tube and minimizing the surface of molten metal in contact with the air or other gas. 摘要: The invention relates to taphole closures for furnaces and more particularly to an automated means of presenting the taphole closure means to a furnace. Taphole closures in the form of darts with elongate tails are known, and given their weight are difficult to present to a transport arm. The object of the invention is to overcome this difficulty, an objective met by a means of loading a taphole closure means into a steelmaking vessel comprising a holder for at least one taphole closure means to hold the or each taphole closure means with an uppermost rod substantially vertical, lifting means able to engage the uppermost rod and lift the taphole closure means, control means to bring the lifting means to the taphole closure means in the holder and to cause further movement of the lifting means to bring the taphole closure means to the location of and into contact with a releaseable clamp means at the end of a transport arm, means to cause the lifting means to disengage from the uppermost rod and activate the releaseable clamp, and a means of moving the transport arm from a position of rest where it receives the taphole closure means to a position where it can be inserted into a steelmaking vessel to load the taphole closure means into the vessel.

摘要: An improved vortex inhibitor for separating slag from molten metal during the discharge of molten metal through a nozzle includes a uniform castable refractory body with a generally tapering shape, a hollow chamber within the body and an elongated sacrificial member. The hollow chamber receives the sacrificial member or a mount for the sacrificial member. The refractory body and the sacrificial member combination in molten metal has a specific gravity less than the specific gravity of molten metal and is positioned narrow end downward when supported in molten metal. The hollow chamber can fill with molten metal to form a core that aids in orienting the body in a narrow end downward position. The sacrificial member align the with the area in which the vortex forms and minimizes interference with the flow through the discharge nozzle. The body preferably includes swirl obstructing surfaces.
