    摘要: A tap holder includes a body extending along an axis and having a front end portion defining a front opening and an externally threaded portion. A gripping assembly includes a spring having first and second legs, a first jaw mounted to the first leg, and a second jaw mounted to the second leg. Each jaw has a tapered outer wall and an inner wall with the inner walls of the jaws facing each other. A sleeve has an internally threaded bore threadably received on the externally threaded portion of the body, and an inner tapered surface configured to abut the tapered outer walls of the first and second jaws. As the sleeve is rotated relative to the body, a distance between the first and second gripping surfaces may be adjusted for gripping a tap between the inner walls of the first and second jaws. Each of the inner walls includes first and second gripping surfaces, the first gripping surfaces defining a first width therebetween for gripping taps having a first range of head sizes, and the second gripping surfaces defining a larger second width therebetween for gripping taps having a second, different range of head sizes.

    摘要: A clamping jaw arrangement for a broach puller assembly is described in which first and second jaw sets are engaged with the end face and one side of the annular groove of the broach tool. The second jaw set initially engages one side of the annular groove and is locked in position with an associated spring urged operating sleeve, and upon lifting of the broach tool in reaction to engagement with the workpiece, the first jaw set moves radially inward and is held against the chamfered end face of the tool to eliminate all axial play while ensuring proper seating of the jaw elements in each set.

    摘要: Rotary and axial forces are transmitted through a chuck to a rotary drill string. The chuck clampingly engages the drill string to transmit rotary and axial forces. A multiplicity of jaw elements in the chuck contact the drill string. The chuck includes a lower jaw retaining means and an upper jaw retaining means. Disengageable means are provided connecting the lower jaw retaining means and the upper jaw retaining means. Jaw actuating means are provided for moving the jaw elements to and from a rod gripping and rod release position.

The clamping jaw is manufactured with a disc milling cutter with opposed milling cutter flanks located radially outwardly and positioned slantedly relative to one another at different flank angles. The flank angles increase toward a center of the cutter body.
