    摘要: A cutting tool for undercutting a bore in a component includes a shaft portion and at least one tangentially and axially cutting portion. The shaft portion extends in an axial direction relative to the component and has a maximum shaft radius. The cutting portion projects radially with respect to the shaft portion further than the maximum shaft radius. Each cutting portion includes a tangentially arranged lateral cutting edge configured to form a tangentially extending groove in the component. At least one cutting portion has a front cutting edge arranged axially at a front end thereof and configured to form an axially extending groove in the component.

    摘要: A structured diamond tool having a predefined grayscale grating profile shape allows a corresponding grayscale grating profile to be machined into a work piece with a single pass with high accuracy. Manufacture of grayscale gratings using this technique saves time compared to the situation where the profile is machined by a single-point diamond tool with multiple passes. Also, more time-saving is realized if more than one period is machined in the diamond tool. Such a tool can be manufactured using a high precision focused ion beam (FIB), which is a true nanomachining tool that can machine features on the order of tens of nanometers. The diamond tool made by FIB therefore has extremely fine resolution and features required by the grayscale grating.

    摘要: Provided is a mold of removing chips for machining a product with center pins. The mold includes a plurality of first forming grooves disposed on an upper end thereof, a plurality of second forming grooves disposed on a lower end thereof, and at least two chip-removing grooves separately disposed on the upper and lower ends thereof. The first and second forming grooves separately divide the upper and lower ends into a plurality of upper and lower cores. The chip-removing grooves are separately cutting the first and second forming grooves. The chip-removing grooves can make the chips be easily removed out of the mold for preventing the chips from blocking up the first and second forming grooves and avoiding the deformation of the upper and lower cores, thereby enhancing the strength of the mold, elongating the useful life thereof and ensuring the machining precision of the product.

    摘要: A non-rotary shaping method (700, 800, 900) and shaping center (600) for forming a part using a non-rotating cutting tool (400) for removing material from a non-rotating workpiece within a three-dimensional work envelope that obsoletes the use of mills for profiling operations. Without the need to rotate to produce sufficient surface footage to remove material, the cutting tool (400) applies constant cutting force to the workpiece along a one-, two-, or three-dimensional cutting path. Also, without the need to rotate, neither the cutting tool nor the part are constrained in shape by axial symmetrical. Therefore, parts without any restriction in shape can be produced with finer surface finishes and higher material removal rates than by milling.
