Abstract:
A cutter head (4, 6) having a lock spring (30) utilized with an adjustment screw (16) for preventing the adjustment screw from loosening during machining. Once positioned by turning the adjustment screw, a cutting blade (8) will not change position in a mounting slot (10) due to a loosening adjustment screw.
Abstract:
A method and an apparatus for skiving a work piece that has a rotationally-symmetric, periodic structure, by applying a skiving tool. The skiving tool has a tapering collision structure. During skiving, a coupled relative movement of the skiving tool in relation to the work piece is performed. The skiving tool is rotated about a first rotation axis and the work piece is rotated about a second rotation axis. A negative tilt angle is set during skiving, and the first rotation axis runs skew with respect to the second rotation axis.
Abstract:
Method for milling a series of teeth of a toothed gear element with teeth in a straight line with a milling cutter rotatable about a milling cutter axis and having at its periphery interchangeable cutting inserts arranged such that, when the milling cutter is brought to the toothed gear element, they reach into gaps between adjacent teeth or generate these gaps, and a corresponding milling cutter. Cutting edges of mounted cutting inserts extend radially and perpendicularly relative to the milling cutter axis. During milling of the tooth profile, the milling cutter axis is aligned in a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal extent of the tooth back and, during entering of the cutting inserts, rotated about the milling cutter axis, into the surface or gaps between the teeth, and pivoted in this plane over an angular range covering all normals to the profile surface of the tooth to be produced.
Abstract:
A gear cutting tool wherein each cutting blade group includes two differently positioned but identical cutting blades (41, 40) such as an one outside and one inside blade. The inventive blade arrangement only requires a single type of blade (30) in order to simultaneously cut the convex and the concave tooth flanks of a gear as well as the root fillet and root bottom portions of tooth slots. The cutter system allows radial adjustment of the outside cutting blade and the inside cutting blade independently of one another. Additionally, inside and outside cutting blades may be exchanged with one another.
Abstract:
A skiving tool for manufacturing a rotationally symmetrical periodical structure on a work piece by means of a power skiving method. The skiving tool comprises a base body comprising a central rotation axis and a plurality of receiving openings and a plurality of cutter bars, fewer than or equal to the number of receiving openings. Each of the receiving openings has an elongate shape having a longitudinal axis, and the receiving openings can be arranged uniformly around the central rotation axis. The longitudinal axes of the receiving openings are generators of a rotation hyperboloid, which is arranged rotationally symmetrical to the central rotation axis.
Abstract:
For machining the tooth flanks of a hardened workpiece having pre-formed teeth two cutting blades or plates are secured to a cutting blade or plate holder. The cutting blades or plates are provided with a base member or backing formed of a hard metal and a cover layer sintered thereon which is formed of cubic boron nitride. Each cutting blade forms a cutting surface and a clearance surface. Each individual cutting blade or plate is arranged at the cutting blade or plate holder in relation to the direction of the intended cutting movement such that the surface of the cover layer forms the clearance surface and an end face or surface of the cover layer is located in the cutting surface. Consequently, there is achieved the result that the cutting surface can be reground in the same manner as tools which, for example, are made of hardened steel and which are not provided with a cover layer.
Abstract:
A CUTTER HEAD FOR A GEAR CUTTING MACHINE OF THE TYPE WHEREIN A PLURALITY OF CUTTING TOOLS ARE MOUNTED IN RADIALLY MOVABLE AND CIRCUMFERENTIALLY SPACED RELATION UPON THE HEAD, THE CUTTER HEAD BEING FORMED FROM AN ANNULAR PRESSURE PLATE, A PLURALITY OF UNIFORMLY DIMENSIONED, WEDGE-SHAPED TOOL SLOT SEPARATORS AND A PLURALITY OF UNIFORMLY DIMENSIONED, GENERALLY RECTANGULAR TOOL SLOT SPACERS ALTERNATELY ARRANGED UPON THE ANNULAR PRESSURE PLATE TO FORM SLOTS FOR RECEIVING THE CUTTING TOOLS, THE SEPARATORS AND SPACERS BEING HEAT TREATED PRIOR TO ASSEMBLY UPON THE ANNULAR PRESSURE PLATE, THE SEPARATORS AND SPACERS BEING ACCURATELY POSITIONED UPON THE PRESSURE PLATE BY ALIGNMENT DOWELS SURROUNDED BY SOFT METAL PLUGS AND EXTENDING THROUGH COAXIAL BORES IN THE PRESSURE PLATE AND THE RESPECTIVE SEPARATORS AND SPACERS.
