Abstract:
The inventive device includes a work supporting portion for supporting a work rotatably about a first axis, a cutter supporting portion for supporting a cutter rotatably about a second axis different from the first axis and a moving portion for moving the cutter along a reference line extending through the first axis. The second axis is slanted relative to a reference plane oriented perpendicular to the first axis and a blade edge of the cutter is caused to come into contact with the work at an offset position offset from the reference line. The work and the cutter are driven in synchronism and the cutter is moved along the reference line.
Abstract:
Tooth flanks of a gear are produced with a cutter head rotating about a cutter head axis and equipped with cutters having internal or inner cutting edges and external or outer cutting edges. In order to obtain a further increase in the gear cutting capacity or output, while avoiding the therewith usually associated tooth flank errors, the cutter head axis is pivoted out of a normal within or into a plane, as the case may be. At the cutter head the external cutting edges are arranged at a first circle, the internal cutting edges at a second circle and such respective cutting edges are arranged in offset relationship from a uniform angle division or pitch through a predetermined respective angle. The external cutting edges and the internal cutting edges form with a normal to a tangential plane a respective predetermined angle.
Abstract:
A tool head for a machine tool comprising a plurality of tool spindles with each tool spindle being rotatable about a respective tool axis. The plurality of tool spindles comprises at least a first tool spindle rotatable about a first tool axis, a second tool spindle rotatable about a second tool axis and a third tool spindle being rotatable about a third tool axis with the first, second and third tool axes being parallel to one another. The first, second and third tool spindles are arranged on the tool head whereby one of the first, second and third tool spindles faces a first direction and the other two of the first, second and third tool spindles face a second direction with the first and second directions being 180 degrees apart. The tool spindles are preferably grinding spindles on a machine for grinding bevel gear cutting tools.
Abstract:
Soft milling bevel gear teeth on multiple similar bevel gears using a universal hobbing tool with a set of bar cutters comprising a plurality of pairs of inner and outer cutting edges, having four machining phases: 1) simultaneous milling machining a first bevel gear's convex inner and concave outer flanks with the pairs; 2) milling finishing pre-machining either the concave outer flanks with the outer cutting edges the convex inner flanks with the inner cutting edges without employing respective other cutting edges; 3) using the same tool with the same set of cutter bars to pre-tooth a second similar bevel gear, including simultaneous milling machining the gear's convex inner and concave outer flanks; 4) milling finishing pre-machining on the second gear either the concave outer flanks with the outer cutting edges or the convex inner flanks with the inner cutting edges without employing respective other cutting edges.
