    摘要: A gear production apparatus for producing a gear from a blank includes a blank retainer rotatably supporting and selectively driving the blank about a work axis. An axially moveable first stock supports a first tool for rotation about a first axis extending substantially perpendicular to the work axis. An axially moveable second stock supports a second tool for rotation about the second axis. The second tool is moveable in two additional degrees of freedom such that the second axis is rotatable about a third axis and the second tool is axially translatable along the second axis. The second tool is moveable with the second stock along a line extending substantially perpendicular to and intersecting the work axis. The first stock is moveable to engage the first tool with the blank to form rough teeth. The second stock is moveable to engage the second tool with the blank.

    摘要: Face enveloping gears are machined by face milling type cutting tool or gear shaper. This process includes the following steps: positioning of the cutting tool in tangential relation relative to the meshing enveloping pinion thread with face gear by the smallest pitch diameter of threads with face gear teeth; turning rotating cutter relative to axis of rotation of an imaginary enveloping wheel until generating tooth is on the outer circle of the face gear. For generation of enveloping pinion the complementary cutting tool has additional motion around axis of pinion rotation. In another method tooth shaper or helical hob rotating tool rotates around axis of rotation of a theoretical generating gear for enveloping pinion with a predetermined relative motion to axis of rotation of work gear. This reduces production cost and makes manufacturing easier.

    摘要: A hobbing tool connects to a CNC lathe for performing a hobbing operation on a workpiece mounted in the lathe. It includes a drive end for mounting to a tool station of a turret of the lathe and for being driven by the lathe and a hobbing end having a hob drive shaft for supporting and driving a hob to machine a portion of the workpiece mounted in the lathe. The hob drive shaft is operatively connected to the drive end so that the hob drive shaft can be rotationally driven by the lathe. The hobbing end is connected to the drive end with a rotationally adjustable coupling which allows a lead angle of the hob shaft to be adjusted with respect to the workpiece.

    摘要: A method for manufacturing a bevel gear member, comprises the steps of providing a bevel gear blank having a gearhead, forming gear teeth on the gearhead of the bevel gear blank by simultaneously cutting gear tooth top land, gear tooth side profile and a bottom land to form an unfinished bevel gear member using a face hobbing process, and machining at least one selected surface of the unfinished bevel gear member using the top lands of said gear teeth as a datum for centering the unfinished bevel gear member, thus forming a finished product. The method is applicable for manufacturing the bevel gear member both with shaft axially extending from the gearhead and without the shaft. The bevel gear members manufactured with this method exhibit reduced runout and require simpler, less expensive tooling.
