    摘要: A finishing device includes a finishing belt, a finishing belt holding device, a first drive configured to rotationally drive a workpiece about a workpiece axis, and a second drive configured to oscillate the workpiece and the finishing belt relative to another along the workpiece axis. The finishing belt holding device has a holding section configured to hold a portion of the finishing belt. The portion has an active area configured to finish a circumferential workpiece surface. The portion extends in a plane which is vertical when referring to the direction of gravity and extends in a horizontal direction when referring to the direction of gravity and when viewing in the running direction of the finishing belt. The finishing device includes a workpiece holding device defining a workpiece holding axis which is vertical when referring to the direction of gravity.

    摘要: A honing tool has a tool body and shells disposed on the tool body. Honing stone sets each provided with two or more honing stones are provided. The shells each support one of the honing stone sets. Guide bars of the honing tool are placed against the bore and a portion of the bore is conically honed with decreasing stroke of the honing tool, wherein a lower reversing point of the honing tool remains substantially unchanged. Honing is terminated as soon as an upper reversing point has reached a predetermined terminal value. Alternatively, a portion of the bore is conically honed with a constant stroke of the honing tool, wherein reversing points of the stroke of the honing tool remain substantially unchanged and a feeding force pressing the honing stones against the bore is controlled as a function of a position of the honing tool in the bore.

    摘要: A tool is disclosed for selective honing of the outer diameter of a cylinder using an abrasive belt in semi-circular contact upon the outer-diameter of a cylindrical work-piece to perform a similar function to honing the inner-diameter of a hollow cylinder. The belt is retained within the tool body by U-shaped restraint arms, and a slot in the tool body. A clamp block retains the ends of the belt which exit the slot. Springs on the arms, and contact of the block on the outside of the tool body, force the belt into a triangular shape inside the body. A cylindrical work-piece inserted within the triangular shaped belt causes the belt to deform into three semi-circular areas of contact between the belt and work-piece. When the work-piece is rotated, the belt abrades material from the work-piece.

    摘要: An outer surface of a cam on a camshaft extending along a camshaft axis is honed by continuously rotating the camshaft about its axis, holding a grinding stone adjacent the cam with a surface of the stone directed radially inward at the cam surface, urging the grinding stone radially of the axis against the stone and thereby pressing the cam surface radially inward against the cam surface for contact of the stone surface along a line with the cam surface, and continuously displacing the stone surface in a direction generally tangential of the camshaft axis and thereby continuously moving the contact line between the cam and stone surfaces. Thus the contact line between the stone and the cam will move continuously, so that wear will not be concentrated in one location and the stone will not wear to fit in surface contact on the cam. The cam surface includes a part-cylindrical base region coaxial with the camshaft and a lobe region projecting radially outward from and joined to the base region. The stone surface is continuously displaced while engaging both of the regions.
