摘要: A carrier (12) is laterally displaceable on the feed table (2) of the machine on a track (13) slidable in a track bed (11), the lateral position being adjustable by means of an acutating means (16) connected to a spindle. Lower and upper woodworking units (9, 10), each having a tool spindle (3, 5) supported at both ends and tools (4, 6) disposed thereon, e.g., planers, groovers, and/or profile cutters, are removable together with bearing housings (7) after disengaging securing means (21) and replaceable, e.g., by woodworking units equipped with other tools. The tool spindle (3, 5) is separable from the bearing housings (7) for exchanging the tools (4, 6). For ease in removing and replacing the lower woodworking unit (9), the carrier can be pulled completely out of the machine at one side. For adjusting optimum cutting, the lower woodworking unit can be vertically positioned as regards the overhang of the tools relative to the working surface (1) of the feed table. Owing to the easy exchangeability of the woodworking units and the adjustability of the lower woodworking unit, the machine can be used both as a planar and as a combined planing-milling machine.

摘要: A cutting tool component which has an ultra-thin layer of ultra-hard material bonded to a cemented carbide substrate. The ultra-thin layer of ultra-hard material has a thickness of no greater than 0.2 mm. This cutting tool is used to cut workpieces under roughing and/or interrupted cut conditions. Where the workplace is a wood product or wood composite the invention extends to cutting such workpieces in general. The ultra-hard material is preferably PCD or PCBN.

摘要: An apparatus and associated method for grooving a relatively rigid planar laminate sheet structure of the type having a relatively rigid substrate layer and a flexible sheet layer fixedly overlying the substrate layer to facilitate the folding of the sheet structure about a right corner defined by two planar surfaces of a polygonal panel during a laminating operation utilizes a circular rotatable grooving blade having teeth having cutting edges providing in cross-section, a V having an apex directed generally radially outwardly of the blade and further utilizes a member associated with the blade for defining first and second guide planes. The teeth cutting edges are adapted to form a V-sectioned groove in the laminate sheet structure as the blade is rotated within a plane oriented generally perpendicular to the plane of the laminate sheet and moved in operative grooving engagement across the laminate sheet. The provided V has a projected height which is about equal to the thickness of the substrate layer of the laminate sheet to be grooved, and has one leg which terminates at a point which rotates, as the blade is operatively rotated, within one blade plane oriented to one side of the blade body. The first guide plane is coincident with the defined one blade plane, and the second guide plane is oriented generally perpendicular to the first and spaced from the rotational axis of the blade a distance equal to the distance between the rotational axis and the apex of the provided V minus the projected height of the provided V so that by placing one corner-defining surface of a polygonal panel against the substrate side of a laminate sheet and moving the apparatus relative to the laminate sheet to be grooved with the first guide plane in sliding engagement with the other corner-defining surface of the panel, the second guide plane in sliding engagement with the laminate sheet, and the grooving blade in operative grooving engagement with the laminate sheet, the blade forms a V-sectioned groove in the laminate sheet adajcent the panel corner, which groove has a depth equal to about the projected height of the provided V. In the resulting V-sectioned groove, the substrate layer of the laminate sheet is substantially severed while the flexible sheet layer remains uncut.

摘要: The invention relates to a method for separating small pieces from blanks of material by using a device comprising a plurality of cutting elements, with short cutting edges as compared with the blank, said cutting elements being so arranged on the face of a rotating cutting element holding means with their edges pointing essentially in the direction of rotation, that always a plurality of said edges are in holding engagement with the blank during the rotation of said holding means when said blank is moved along a path intersecting said face. The feeding path has a projection, the direction of which is essentially parallel to the direction of the tangents of the orbits of the cutting elements in the place where said path intersects said face. When applicated to a method of chipping timber the invention has the consequence that an elongated chip blank is cut from a sloping end face of the log by each cutting element, the width of said chip blank as determined by the length of said cutting edge being the same as the width of a separate chip, the length of each chip being determined by the angle between the direction of the fibers in the blank and the direction of the thickness of the blank. The invention also relates to a device for separating small pieces from a blank of material, particularly a chipping machine for chipping timber to chips, said device comprising a plurality of cutting elements, with short cutting edges as compared with at least the next smallest dimension of the blank, said cutting elements being so arranged on the face of a rotating cutting element holding means at different distances from the axis of rotation of said holding means and with the edges pointing essentially in a direction of rotation, that always a plurality of said edges are in holding engagement with the blank during the rotation of said holding means when said blank is moved along a path intersecting said face. The inclination of the back of the cutting element, i.e. the surface of the cutting elements directed towards the blank and the abutting the cutting edge, towards a plane including the rotational path of the cutting element is different between the cutting elements in such a manner that it increases with a reduced spacing between the cutting element and the axis of rotation of the holding means. In another device for carrying out the method the cutting elements are arranged on a cylinder and the feeding path for the blank to be separated extends at a right angle to the cylinder axis.
