    摘要: A hot-runner system having a manifold and a nozzle, wherein the manifold or nozzle or both may be multi-material apparatuses of unitary construction. The nozzle may be thermally graded for temperature transmission between a heating sleeve and the melt. The nozzle may also include a melt flow channel apparatus that alters the flow of the melt before entering the mold. The nozzle and manifold may have a unitary construction that reduces fitting problems between the two apparatuses.

    摘要: An injection molding apparatus comprises a manifold having a manifold channel for receiving a melt stream of moldable material under pressure. A nozzle having a nozzle channel receives the melt stream from the manifold channel and delivers the melt stream through a mold gate to a mold cavity. The nozzle includes a nozzle head, a nozzle body and a nozzle tip. A heat dissipation device is coupled to the nozzle body at a location between the nozzle head and the nozzle tip to regulate the temperature of the nozzle and maintain it within a predetermined temperature range.

    摘要: Various steps in the operation of an insulated runner injection molding system are automated by computer generated responses to various sensing steps or other steps to thereby reduce the performance requirements of the system operator. In automatic response to a manual operation incident to closure of a machine gate subsequent to removal of a sprue from channel-encasing mold parts, a computer causes the molding system to be adjusted to enable injection of molten plastic into an insulated runner channel to form the insulated runner and through the insulated runner into mold-cavities. In automatic response to sensing such readjustment of the molding system, the computer causes a predetermined quantity of molten plastic to be metered for injection to form the insulated runner. In automatic response to sensing such metering the computer causes the metered quantity to be injected into the channel. In automatic response to sensing completion of such injection, and after a interval during which the injected plastic cools to form the insulated runner, the computer causes further plastic material to be injected through the insulated runner into the mold cavities in accordance with parameters of a molding sequence including a plurality of injection molding cycles. The predetermined metered quantity of molten plastic material that is injected to form the insulated runner covers the mold-part-separation lines, but does not extend to any of the gates between the channel and the mold cavities.

    摘要: An improved injection molding runnerless manifold and nozzle system, method and apparatus in which the fluid plastic molding material transfer conduits, such as the manifold runner channels and cavity injection nozzle passageway, are constructed of a low thermal conductivity, non-metallic heat insulation structural material to thereby heat insulate the liquified molding material or resin, whether thermosetting or thermoplastic, while resident in the manifold runners and/or nozzle passageways. The heat transfer and other physical parameters of the conduit material and structure are such that this molding material remains at a reasonable uncured molding temperature while resident in the transfer conduit for the duration of at least one injection cycle due to the heat insulation characteristics of these fluid flow conduits of the system. Preferably the heat insulation material of which the flow conduits are constructed is a polymer material having mechanical properties adequate to permit continuous accessible usage in the foregoing method as part of a separable and clampable manifold and/or nozzle system within the mold tooling as operable in the injection molding environment.
