    摘要: Methods and apparatus for eliminating or reducing a surface skin when producing a flexible polyurethane foam slab are disclosed. The top surface of the chemically reactive polyurethane foaming mixture is heated during and/or after the foaming mixture expands. The heating preferably is conducted so as to prevent a significant temperature gradient from forming between the internal temperature of the foaming mixture and the top surface of that mixture. Preferably, heat is applied so as to heat from the top surface of the foaming mixture in an escalating fashion to higher temperatures as the foam is conveyed along a conveying path away from the foaming mixture dispensing device.

    摘要: A toner supply roll including a cylindrical soft polyurethane sponge structure formed on an outer circumferential surface of a metal shaft by foam molding of a polyurethane material in a mold cavity of a mold. The sponge structure having hardness of 350 g or lower includes a skin layer having a network of cells and openings open in its outer circumferential surface and communicating with respective ones of the cells located adjacent to the skin layer, such that the openings are substantially aligned with central portions of the respective ones of the cells in axial and circumferential directions of the sponge structure. Each opening has a size of 100-800 .mu.m, and a total area of the openings is at least 20% of the total surface area of the skin layer. The sponge structure has a plurality of protrusions formed on the outer circumferential surface of the skin layer so as to extend linearly or helically in the axial direction of the sponge structure. The protrusions have a height of 20-3000 .mu.m and are arranged in a circumferential direction of the sponge structure with a pitch of 300-3000 .mu.m, so that the skin layer is provided with recesses each interposed between the adjacent protrusions.     摘要: A method of determining that a thermoplastic was insufficiently dried before forming into a molded plastic part. The method comprises preparing a mixture of a thermoplastic polymer and an off-gassing compound, wherein the off-gassing compound is selected to release all water of hydration in response to target drying conditions specified for the thermoplastic polymer. The mixture is dried at actual drying conditions, and then heated to reduce the viscosity of the thermoplastic polymer and allow the mixture to flow. The mixture is then made to flow into a mold to form a plastic part at a molding temperature, wherein the molding temperature will cause any remaining water of hydration in the off-gas sing compound to off-gas and form surface irregularities in the plastic part. Non-limiting examples of the off-gassing compound include hydrated metal halides and ionic hydrates.
