摘要： A disclosed image forming apparatus includes an image forming unit configured to form an image on a recording medium; and a foam application unit configured to apply foam generated by foaming a liquid and/or a gel onto the recording medium. The foam application unit includes an application part configured to apply the foam onto the recording medium, a supply opening configured to supply the foam to the application part, and a spreading part configured to spread the foam on the application part. The spreading part is disposed at an angle with respect to the movement direction of the application part; and the supply opening is disposed near the most upstream portion of the spreading part with respect to the movement direction of the application part.

摘要： A method and apparatus for making a foam-in-place cushion in which a foam-forming composition is dispensed between two plastic film portions in a predetermined fashion to selectively control the distribution of the foam in the cushion. A foam dispenser can be moved in a transverse direction as foam is dispensed. A dispersion device can be employed to apply pressure on predetermined areas of the film portions towards each other so as to cause the composition to be redistributed in position in a predetermined manner while the composition is in a less than fully expanded state. The plastic film can then be sealed closed to form an expanding foam cushion that can be placed into a shipping carton where the cushion expands to fill void space, or into a mold where the cushion expands and is molded into a desired shape.

摘要： A method for applying a blown polyurethane coating to carpeting or other sheet material. The method includes the step of adding a filler to the polyurethane components to assure that the liquid does not unduly penetrate porous goods. The mixed polyurethane components are then placed in a puddle on the sheet material and leveled to a uniform coating. Steam is passed through the sheet material and the coating to initiate the reaction of the components. The steam also adds water to the coating, so the formulation is such that additional water is needed, and the needed water is added by the steaming. After the polyurethane has completed blowing, and before the polyurethane has cured beyond its plastic state, the foam may be compressed to decrease the thickness. A second sheet of material can be placed over the polyurethane to prevent the polyurethane from adhering to the compressing roller.

摘要： An apparatus is disclosed for continuous distribution of a latex or urethane foam composition on a movable substrate to produce a foamed sheet material such as a foam backed carpet. The distribution apparatus comprises a generally cylindrically shaped rotatable member and at least two attached distribution means which may take the form of either modified doctor rolls or modified doctor blades. The distribution surface of each of these distribution means may differ and may be either smooth or patterned with a variety of grooves or serrations thereby providing means for producing foamed sheet materials with surfaces which are either planar or patterned with ridges and valleys. Means are also provided to readily change the thickness of the distributed foam and for oscillating the distribution apparatus to produce a surface with wavy as opposed to linear patterns of ridges and valleys. All of these operations may be accomplished without interrupting the continuous process.
