摘要: In a printing device employing a solenoid for driving a printing hammer, provided are switching member for ON/OFF operating electric current flowing through the solenoid coil, voltage generating member for generating voltage in accordance with the electric current, converting member for converting the generated voltage to a digital value, chopping member for comparing the converted digital value with a predetermined comparison value, while for turning on the switching member when the converted value is smaller than the predetermined comparison value and turning off the switching member when the converted value is larger than the predetermined comparison value, another chopping member for alternatively turning the switching member in another predetermined interval shorter than the predetermined interval, when the set value becomes similar to the comparison value, during said predetermined interval. Thus, the current deviation at each of the solenoid driving period are controlled to be limited in the desired range.

摘要: Circuit for detecting variations in the nominal velocity of a character band and adjusting the hammer firing times to compensate for the variations. This circuit measures deviations in band velocity that are either faster or slower than a nominal velocity during each character emitter pulse and makes an appropriate correction in the subscan times that gate the hammer firing signals. A bidirectional counter is counted up at a high frequency to a value representing the emitter period including the velocity deviation and then counted down after the error determination at a selected frequency that is a preselected fraction of the high frequency. This technique corrects for each character emitter pulse and incorporates a timing proportionality to assure correct hammer impact.

摘要: In a printer in which an elongated shuttle is driven in reciprocating fashion across a print paper with hammers mounted along the length of the shuttle being selectively fired to print dots on the paper, a timing system provides hammer fire pulses denoting the positions of the shuttle at which hammer firing should be initiated to print in the proper dot positions. Proper timing is maintained so as to allow for printing during acceleration and deceleration as well as during constant velocity movement of the shuttle by determining the average shuttle velocity between each successive pair of fence post pulses generated by a shuttle-coupled encoder. The average velocities are represented by the time lapses between occurrence of the pairs of fence post pulses which are measured and stored during each startup of the printer as well as each time the nominal operating shuttle velocity is changed as part of a change in printer operation. Dot positions are represented by a percentage of the distance between a pair of fence post pulses, such that the time of occurrence of each dot position following the immediately prior fence post pulse can be determined by applying the percentage to the stored time lapse between the pair of pulses. The time position of each dot position as so determined is stepped back by the fixed hammer flight time to arrive at the hammer fire pulse times which are referenced to the immediately prior fence post pulse and which are used during each stroke of the shuttle.

摘要: According to this invention, a voltage signal generating circuit is provided for generating a voltage signal in synchronism with a print timing signal produced when a printing head is driven. A detection circuit detects a power source voltage for driving the printing head. A driving pulse output circuit outputs a driving pulse signal having a pulse generating timing and pulse width corresponding to variations in the power source voltage, on the basis of the voltage signal which is output from the voltage signal generating circuit and detection signal which is output from the detection circuit. A driving circuit is adapted to drive a driving head with a printing timing and printing pressure corresponding to the driving pulse signal.

摘要: A constant energy drive circuit for an electromagnetic print hammer has a chopping circuit including a comparator which cycles a switch connecting the energizing coil of the print hammer to an unregulated power supply. Changes in the drive voltage of the unregulated source are compensated for by altering the switching rate of the switch by adjusting the amplitude of a reference signal applied to the comparator. The reference signal adjustment is inverse to changes in the drive voltage.

摘要: A triggering circuit for a plurality of printing solenoids that insures the uniform density of the printed matter by producing actuating pulses of a duration varying as an inverse function of the supply voltage. The natural energy integration of printing solenoids causes the solenoid to print with a uniform force in response to short-duration, high voltage energization, and longduration, low voltage energization.

摘要: A circuit for controlling the firing of a print hammer so as to maintain constant intercharacter spacing during printing. The speed of a motor which moves a document in printing relationship with a printer is used to ascertain the instantaneous velocity of the document just prior to the firing of a hammer associated with the printer. An up/down counter is used in determining the delay, if any, in firing the hammer to compensate for instantaneous velocities which are slower than the fastest velocity of document travel expected.

摘要: A print hammer drive circuit is driven by a voltage supply having inherent voltage variations. The driving current is applied to the print hammer coil and the level of the current in the coil detected. After the level of the current in the coil reaches a predetermined maximum level a timing circuit is initiated to control the duration of application of maximum current. Variations in supply voltage on the duration and force of strike of the print hammer have greatly reduced since all timing is based relative to the time that the predetermined drive current level is achieved as distinguished from timing which includes the rise time of the driving current wave form. Also the effects of variations in inductance from coil to coil can be compensated for by adjustment of the timing circuit.
