Abstract: A pneumatic pressure controller includes a body, an inflation plunger, a vent and a deflation diaphragm or piston. The body defines an input chamber and an output chamber for connection of a pneumatic pressure source and pneumatic container respectively. The plunger is biased towards a closed condition wherein it inhibits fluid flow from the input chamber to the output chamber and is movable against the bias to allow such fluid flow for inflation of the pneumatic container. The diaphragm or piston is variably biased towards a closed condition wherein it closes the vent. The diaphragm or piston is configured to move away from the vent to an open condition under the influence of fluid pressure in the output chamber when the inflation plunger is in the closed condition and the variable bias is sufficiently reduced, enabling fluid from the pneumatic container to egress to the atmosphere via the vent.

Abstract: A self-regulating tire valve for use in pneumatic tires. The self-regulating tire valve includes a tubular housing with a primary channel extending therethrough, a threaded collar on one end of the tubular housing adapted to connect to a source of pressurized air, a cavity positioned adjacent to the primary channel, and a release passageway connecting to a release outlet positioned on the exterior of the tubular housing. A diverting block is positioned with a secondary channel extending therethrough that is moveably positioned within the cavity. When the secondary channel of the diverting block is aligned with the release passageway, air can flow from a second end to a first end of the secondary channel, through the release passageway and exit at the release outlet.

Abstract: An air maintenance tire system and method in accordance with the present invention includes an air pumping mechanism configured to maintain air pressure within a first tire and a second tire in a dual tire arrangement. The system includes a control valve assembly attached to an elongate valve stem projecting from a rim of a first tandem tire, and a one-way valve carrying connecting tube from a sidewall air pumping passageway within a sidewall of the first tire. The control valve assembly further includes first and second outlet tubes connected to the elongate valve stem to selectively pass pressurized air into the tire cavities of both tandem mounted tires on an as-needed basis.

Abstract: A tire pressure sensor is provided. The tire pressure sensor comprises a sensor housing having a first engagement portion defining an opening. A pressure sensing element is within the sensor housing and is in fluid communication with the opening of the sensor housing. The tire pressure sensor is configured to engage and be in fluid communication with an over-inflation pressure relief valve. The over-inflation relief valve is engagable in a wheel of an aircraft wheel assembly. The tire pressure sensor is also disengageable from the over-inflation pressure relief valve. A tire pressure sensor assembly and an aircraft wheel system are also provided.

Abstract: An apparatus includes a housing, a passageway, a pressure release mechanism, and at least one seal. The housing includes a longitudinal axis. Abstract: A safety cap (10) which is screwed onto an external thread (24) of standard tire valve (22) consists of a cylindrical body (11), a cup-shaped barrel (26) which is threaded onto an external thread (17) of the cylindrical body (11), and a control valve which consists of a plunger (42), a valve seat (50), a spring (46), and a guide pin (40). This valve is located in a space (B) formed between the inner face of a barrel bottom (30) and the facing end of the cylindrical body (11). The control valve is constantly adjusted, during the assembling of the safety cap at a factory, to a maximum pressure allowable for a predetermined tire. Abstract: A pressure-responsive signalling valve for use on pneumatic tires is adapted to generate a highly efficient acoustical signal whenever the pressure within the tire falls outside of a predetermined range. The emitted signal is detected by means of an acoustical receiver which, in turn, is coupled to an alarm typically in the form of a warning light or audio device conveniently located within the vehicle to alert the driver. The acoustical valve employs a rolling or flat seal disc diaphragm and a flat sealing arrangement providing a positive sealing action, minimal friction, low hysteresis and extremely precise pressure response characteristics.

Abstract: An inflation pressure regulator which automatically releases pressure above a predetermined maximum. The regulator has a tubular base extending into the hollow interior of a housing. A collar slideably mounted on the tubular base is biased against the interior of the housing with a coil spring to regulate the pressure.
