Abstract:
A storage system for a removable soft top assembly of a vehicle includes a main storage container having a top lid coupleable to a bottom lid, where the main storage container is sized and shaped to receive and store an articulating frame and main cover of the soft top assembly; a first supplemental storage container having a top lid coupleable to a bottom lid, the first supplemental storage container sized and shaped to receive and store windows of the soft stop assembly; and a second supplemental storage container having a top lid coupleable to a bottom lid, where the second supplemental storage container is sized and shaped to receive and store door rails of the soft top assembly. The second supplemental storage container is selectively coupleable to the first supplemental storage, and the first and second supplemental storage containers are selectively coupleable to the main storage container.
Abstract:
A soft window storage unit may comprise a fabric storage roller and a window storage roller mounted to a base or built into a vehicle. A soft fabric may be coupled to and wrapped around the fabric storage roller. A method of storing a soft window of a vehicle may include unrolling a length of fabric from a fabric storage roller and wrapping at least a portion of the length of fabric onto a window storage roller; then wrapping a soft window around the window storage roller while wrapping the fabric around the window storage roller. The method may further include wrapping the soft window between layers of fabric into the window storage roller. The method may further include removing the soft window from storage by wrapping the fabric back onto the fabric storage roller while simultaneously unwrapping the fabric and the soft window from the window storage roller.
Abstract:
A roof is split into plural parts, a front roof and a rear roof. A roof-storage space is formed between a passenger's seat and a rear bulkhead which forms a rear end of a vehicle compartment, in which the roof is stored when the roof is open. There is provided a support mechanism which substantially horizontally supports the roof which is stored in the roof-storage space so that an upper space of the roof-storage space between the passenger's seat and the bulkhead is covered with only one of the plural parts of the roof.
Abstract:
A convertible vehicle has a movable top with a sunroof part that is movable with respect to the surrounding top region. The sunroof part has a closed position and an open position, as well as an interference-preventing position and an intermediate position. The sunroof part is moved to the interference-preventing position during at least part of the movement of the top from the top closed position to the top open position and is moved to the intermediate position when in the top open position.
Abstract:
A convertible roof includes an outer cover with a recess defined therein. The roof has a front roof edge which joins the windshield frame when the convertible roof is in a closed position. The front region of the roof includes a rigid assembly disposed under the cover. The rigid assembly includes a frame part. A sun roof part is received in the recess defined by the cover and is openable to a position raised out of a plane defined by the roof cover. The recess defined by the cover is open to the front.
Abstract:
A motor vehicle (5) is disclosed having a roof structure comprised of a front roof member (6) and a rear member (4) which together form a cover for a passenger compartment (1) of the motor vehicle (5) when both of the roof members (4, 6) are in respective raised positions. When both of the roof members (4, 6) are lowered into stowed positions to form a convertible vehicle, a flap (7, 107) is deployed on each side of the motor vehicle (5) to bridge a gap between the stowed front roof member (6) and an upper edge of an outer rear panel (9).
Abstract:
The invention relates to a convertible vehicle (1) comprising a displaceable roof (2) that can be opened as a whole in relation to its opening. Said displaceable roof (2) comprises a sunroof (4) that can be displaced in relation to a surrounding roof part (5) when the roof is in the closed position. Said convertible vehicle is configured in such a manner that it is possible to directly open the roof from a closed position when the roof part (4) is open as well as from a closed position when the roof part (4) is closed.
Abstract:
A retractable hardtop assembly is provided for a vehicle. A retractable hardtop assembly includes a front section that is connected by a linkage to a vehicle and a rearward portion that is connected by a separate linkage to a decklid of the vehicle. A package shelf/tonneau is secured by a linkage to the back section of the linkage. The package shelf/tonneau is moved from a package/shelf position below the rearward portion of the roof to a tonneau position above the retractable roof when the retractable roof is disposed in the storage compartment. The package shelf/tonneau is moved between the front portion of the roof and rearward portion of the roof during the extension and retraction cycles. The package shelf/tonneau may be rotated 360° as it is moved between the package shelf and tonneau positions.
Abstract:
An automotive vehicle employs a convertible roof system. The convertible roof system can include a roof cover and a top stack mechanism operable between raised and stowed positions. At least one roof bow can move between first and second positions relative to a forwardmost roof rail.
Abstract:
A retractable vehicle roof system for a vehicle having a rearward storage space includes a roof portion movable between a closed position and an open position. The roof portion is located above a body of the vehicle and proximate the rearward storage space when in the closed position. A lid is located above the rearward storage space when the roof portion is in the closed position. The lid is configured to descend into the storage space as the roof portion moves to the open position above the lid while substantially preserving a side profile of the vehicle and permitting storage space access. The roof portion is located above the lid when the roof portion is in the open position. A glide control arrangement is operatively connected to the lid and configured to direct motion of the lid when the roof portion moves between the open and closed positions.
