摘要: A bumper structure for the front and rear area of a motor vehicle includes a bumper cross member, and a crash box placed between the cross member and an end of a side rail. At least two bolted connections, extending in upright direction of the motor vehicle and disposed in parallel relationship, are provided for detachably securing the cross member to the crash box, wherein one of the bolted connections extends through a bore to define a pivot axis of the cross member whereas the other one of the bolted connections is arranged in an oblong hole to allow a limited rotation of the cross member about the pivot axis. In this way, damage to the crash box that is distal to the impact site is prevented.

摘要: An impact damper as a connecting member between a bumper and a chassis of a motor vehicle for the purpose of damping the shock loading during a collision between this motor vehicle and an obstacle, predominantly through deformation work in a tube of the impact damper. The tube is connected to the chassis via a bracket and to the bumper via a bumper receptacle. The bumper receptacle, the bracket and the towing lug with the tube are connected to one another by a joining technique before they are connected to one another by a stamping operation. The advantage of the invention lies in low-cost production without compromises in terms of the functioning of the impact damper.

摘要: A method and apparatus for operating a seat-occupant restraining device in response to collision of a vehicle, comprising a front bumper on the vehicle adapted for receiving impact in the course of a collision and supported by a damper which opposes rearward displacement of the bumper. The damping is a function of the change of velocity of the vehicle during the collision and is used to displace a normally stationary part of the damper when the collision force exceeds a predetermined value. The displacement of the stationary part of the damper serves to close a switch to actuate the seat-occupant restraining device. The switch can be an acceleration detection switch in which case the stationary part is supported by the vehicle body by a deformable structure or the switch can be made as a deformable unit which undergoes deformation by the application of force thereto from the stationary part of the damper.
