    摘要: In an anti-skid braking system of the de-boost and pump to re-apply type, a solenoid-operated cut-off valve is disposed between an expander piston and a brake, and the cut-off valve is operable independently of and separately from the expander piston. The cut-off valve co-operates with a one-way valve disposed between a master cylinder and the brake to hold the one-way valve in an open position when the cut-off valve is in a closed position with the solenoid de-energized. This ensures that the one-way valve can close only as a result of movement of the cut-off valve into an open position which can occur only when the solenoid is energized in response to a skid signal.

    摘要: An anti-lock vehicle brake system having a fluid pressure source for producing brake fluid under pressure at the wheel brake so as to apply braking pressure to the wheel in response to manual braking action by the operator. Also provided is a wheel movement sensing device for producing an output function in response to a related wheel rotational movement, and an anti-lock control valve actuatable in response to said output function and effective to divert brake fluid from the wheel brake so as to relieve braking pressure and thereby avoid wheel locking. A fail-safe arrangement is connected in the system for by-passing the anti-lock system in the event of malfunction of said anti-lock control valve so as to reapply full brake pressure to the wheel brake. The fail-safe arrangement includes a differential pressure member displaceable between a normal position and an operative position in response to a difference in fluid pressure acting on opposite ends thereof. Two different reference pressures act on different surface areas of the pressure member so than when the brake pressure falls to a critical low value the pressure member will be displaced from its normal position to its operative position in which a by-pass connection is established and fluid pressure is permitted to increase at the brake to restore braking pressure as a result of fluid being passed through the actuated control valve.

    摘要: In an hydraulic anti-skid braking system for a vehicle a supply of fluid from a master cylinder is modulated by a modulator assembly in accordance with skid signals from a skid sensing means device, and an hydraulic pump incorporating at least one plunger has a working chamber in communication with the modulator assembly to control brake re-application following skid correction. The modulator assembly incorporates a piston which is normally urged into an advanced inoperative position against a stop by a spring, in which position the piston holds a spring-loaded valve in an open position to place the master cylinder in communication with the brake. Support and expander chambers on opposite sides of the piston are interconnected at all times by a restricted passage with the support chamber defined in a bore in which the piston is guided to slide, between the piston and normally closed dump valve. Thus the position of the piston in the bore is determined by the loading in the spring either augmented or opposed by a force applied to the piston due to any pressure drop across the restricted passage.

    摘要: An hydraulic anti-skid system incorporates a pump having a piston assembly. The piston assembly comprises a pump plunger which is reciprocable in a bore of a drive mechanism, a signal piston coupled to the pump plunger, and a spring for urging the pump plunger out of engagement with the drive mechanism. The signal piston has a first area which is exposed to the pressure from a master cylinder or the brake when the brake is applied to urge the signal piston in a direction such that the pump plunger can engage with the drive mechanism. A dump valve is provided for controlling fluid in a stop chamber to which the piston assembly is exposed at least after the brake has been applied. The dump valve is normally closed to trap fluid in the stop chamber in order to hold the piston assembly in a retracted position in which the pump plunger is disengaged from the drive mechanism, and the dump valve is movable into an open position in response to the skid signal to release fluid from the stop chamber whereafter the pump plunger can engage with the drive mechanism.

The wheel brakes, through a return conduit, are in communication with the intake side of a pump. Provided in the return conduit is an outlet valve. A restriction element is provided in the pressure conduit.
