    摘要: A railroad box car has a truck-carrying railroad chassis and walls on the chassis forming a closable longitudinally extending space that is heated or cooled. According to the invention the walls are each formed of an inner skin, an outer skin, and a mass of cellular plastic foam between the skins bonded at least to an outer face of the respective inner skin. Plastic struts holding the inner and outer skins apart. The walls include a horizontal floor, a pair of upright and transverse end walls, a pair of upright and longitudinal side walls each formed by two slidable doors, and a horizontal roof. Each outer wall is spaced from the respective inner wall.

The lower end of the door assemblies are guided in a track and the track has vertically retractable sections located where the vehicle tires roll so as to provide added load height when the car ends are open and vehicles are being loaded or unloaded. An embodiment with a pivotal, counterweighted Z-shaped member upon which the retractable track section is mounted is disclosed along with an embodiment utilizing a vertically displaceable tubular member and a coil spring.

    摘要: The sliding wall includes a central wall section and two end wall sections, with the sections being co-planar in the closed state and movable, transversely of the car, out of the closing plane and into a shifting plane in which they are displaceable longitudinally of the car past closed wall sections. During shifting, the sliding wall sections are supported by rollers engageable with a rail, provided in an upper longitudinal stringer, and with the outer lateral surface of an outer lower longitudinal supporting beam, the stringer and the supporting beam forming, in cooperation with two corner posts, a side frame of the freight car. The upper rail is a single rectilinear and uninterrupted rail extending substantially the full length of the upper stringer. Each end section has, in the upper portion of its end adjacent the central section, an outwardly opening pocket having a horizontal catch member extending thereacross. The central section has, at the upper portion of each of its ends adjacent an end section, a sickle-shape catch lever pivotal on a horizontal axis parallel to the length of the car and, in the closing position of the sections, projecting into the pocket of the adjacent end section and engaging behind the catch member. Angle levers are oscillatable about horizontal pivots adjacent the bottom end of the central or center section and carry ball rollers on one end engageable with the supporting beam and, on their other end, hook portions which can pass through cut-outs in the supporting beam to engage against the inner lateral surface thereof. The catch levers and the angle levers are commonly operated by a known actuating mechanism. An oscillatable shaft supports the central section during its movement between the closing and shifting planes. When the center section is shifted to completely overlap an end section, the end section may also be shifted together with the center section. For this purpose, the upper edge of the central or center section has cut-outs permitting the supporting rollers of the end section to move from the closing plane into the shifting plane.

    摘要: A golf cart system includes a longitudinal rail having a transverse cross section defined by spaced side walls joined at lower ends thereof by a bottom wall having an inner upper surface. The side walls have at upper ends thereof upper walls extending inwardly toward each other and having inner lower surfaces. The upper walls have spaced inner edges having extending upwardly therefrom mouth portions. The inner edges and the mouth portions define therebetween a longitudinal groove opening downwardly into the interior of the rail. The rail is embedded in the ground of a golf course with upper edges of the mouth portions substantially flush with the ground surface. A golf cart is movable along the rail and has support structure extending downwardly therefrom through the longitudinal groove of the rail. Wheels are mounted on the support structure within the rail interior and contact the inner upper surface of the rail bottom wall. The cart supports a drive to rotate the wheels to move the cart along the rail. The cart is prevented from falling sideways from the rail by rollers supported by the cart and positioned within the rail interior and contacting the inner lower surfaces of the rail upper walls.

    摘要: The side wall includes a frame and three sliding wall sections arranged in a common plane when closed and being displaceable one over the other by rollers running in rails. The central section has lower runners moving on a runway rail and upper runners perpendicularly thereabove running in a guide rail, and each outer section has a lower roller between its center and its outer end running on a runway rail and a lower runner at its outer end bearing under the runway rail, each outer section having upper guide rollers running in a guide rail. The common runway and guide rails for the outer sections have, at those points which the runners and rollers engaged therewith assume in the closing position of the outer section, bends toward the longitudinal center line of the car. The runners of the central section are mounted on bell crank rocking levers pivotal about a horizontal axis parallel to the longitudinal axis of the car, so that the central section can be swung out of the common plane and moved over an outer section to open the side wall. The runway rails for the central and outer sections are constituted by a single rail section mounted in only two longitudinally spaced brackets on the lower chord of the frame, and this section is secured fixedly to one bracket while being longitudinally slidable in the other bracket. Guide fingers at the top of each outer section cooperate with catch hooks on the upper chord of the frame and which guide each outer section into the closed position, and support means on the lower chord engage the sections in the closed position to relieve the load on the supporting runners. Clamping means are provided to clamp each section in closed position to the upper and lower chords of the frame, and each outer section, with the central section swung out and displaced over the other outer section, is displaceable longitudinally to a position laterally between the central and the other outer wall sections.
