    摘要: A draft gear assembly for use with railcars having coupler members is provided. The draft gear assembly has front and back ends and comprises a yoke, a coupler follower, a front resilient member, an intermediate stop member, and a back resilient member. The yoke has a back wall, a top wall extending from the back wall toward the front end of the draft gear assembly, and a bottom wall extending from the back wall toward the front end of the draft gear assembly. The coupler follower is positioned between the butt end of the coupler shank and the front end of the draft gear assembly. The front resilient member is positioned between the coupler follower and the intermediate stop member. The back resilient member is positioned between the intermediate stop member and the yoke back wall. The front and back resilient members are compressible.

    摘要: A railcar energy absorption/coupling system including a cushioning assembly arranged in operable combination with a coupler and a yoke. The cushioning assembly is positioned in a draft pocket defined by a draft sill on a railcar between the front and rear stops. The yoke consists of a back wall along with top and bottom walls which are joined to and axially extending from the back wall toward a forward end of the cushioning assembly. The back wall of the yoke is disposed to contact the rear end of the cushioning assembly. The top and bottom walls of the yoke are operably coupled to a shank portion of the coupler toward a forward end of the yoke. The top and bottom walls of the yoke each include stop members which extend in opposed lateral directions from each other and limit draft travel while maximizing buff travel and limit total combined travel of the energy absorption/coupling system. The energy absorption/coupling system has a neutral position, a full buff position disposed a first predetermined distance from the neutral position, and a full draft position disposed a second predetermined distance from the neutral position, with the full buff and full draft positions for the energy absorption coupling system being disposed in opposite directions from the neutral position.

    摘要: The deformable element for absorbing kinetic energy is a plastic pipe section (1) having interior surfaces at opposite ends thereof. The plastic pipe section (1) initially deforms elastically under an applied axial force (F) and, when a yield stress limit is exceeded by the applied axial force (F), the plastic pipe section (1) deforms or collapses with an approximately equal deforming force over a work stroke until adopting a physically deformed shape in which the interior surfaces at the opposite ends contact each other. The device for absorbing kinetic energy is also described including several plastic pipe sections stacked in a column with an intermediate plate between each adjacent pair of pipe sections. The plastic pipe sections and engaged around a tubular round body for support and guidance. An inner screw bolt can also be provided for pre-tensioning the plastic pipe sections.

    摘要: A yoke for a railway car coupler assembly includes a yoke body having a generally rectangular front portion. A central opening provided in the front portion extends longitudinally therethrough. A pair of opposed first and second straps extend rearwardly from the front portion and are connected by a bridge portion. The side walls of the front portion are tapered inwardly toward the bridge portion to accommodate a striker having thickened side walls. Also, recessed portions are provided in the yoke central opening to accommodate the shank of a strengthened coupler. A bearing pad provided on the yoke bridge portion has relieved areas to prolong the service life of the yoke.
