A system and method for operation of an autonomous vehicle (AV) yard truck is provided. A processor facilitates autonomous movement of the AV yard truck, and connection to and disconnection from trailers. A plurality of sensors are interconnected with the processor that sense terrain/objects and assist in automatically connecting/disconnecting trailers. A server, interconnected, wirelessly with the processor, that tracks movement of the truck around and determines locations for trailer connection and disconnection. A door station unlatches/opens rear doors of the trailer when adjacent thereto, securing them in an opened position via clamps, etc. The system computes a height of the trailer, and/or if landing gear of the trailer is on the ground and interoperates with the fifth wheel to change height, and whether docking is safe, allowing a user to take manual control, and optimum charge time(s). Reversing sensors/safety, automated chocking, and intermodal container organization are also provided.

The access door defines an opening in the side wall, the opening being created by the access door being moved from the closed position to the open position. The pickup truck has a cap member, the cap member releasably coupling to the side walls of the pickup bed and having a gap in one side portion thereof, the gap being positioned above the opening, such that the gap and the opening communicate with one another. The pickup truck has an extension body that releasably couples to the access door and pivots with the access door. The extension body is configured to functionally engage the gap in the cap member under the condition that the access door is in the closed position.

The invention relates generally to an apparatus for use with curtain side trailers, including a pillar with a hydraulic dampening device and two members, and providing a way for the pillar to be locked and released from lateral movement along a railing or framework. The invention is generally used as an intermediary support for the curtain and the roof, and extends from the trailer bed to the roof. Since the pillars can move laterally along the railing or framework once released and opened, the width for loading and unloading is increased. The dampening device of present invention helps with safety issues of prior inventions by decreasing the velocity of the opening pillar.

This cargo bay cover is a convenient, water-resistant, soft cover for a cargo bay. The cover is designed with five easily removable support arms (38) covered with a lightweight, water-resistant material (20). The support arms are steadied by rigid support brackets (32,34) which fit tightly around the upper side-wall ridge (82) of the cargo bay. Tension caused by the design of the support arms (38) pressing against the support brackets (32,34), and the stabilizer members (36), steady the cover during use. A utility rack for a pickup truck includes front and rear stanchions, each generally in the shape of an inverted "U", and left and right side rails extending between hinges at the upper corners of the stanchions. The front stanchion is permanently mounted at the front of the truck bed. The rear stanchion is movable between an extended position at the rear of the truck bed and a proximate position just behind the front stanchion. The side rails collapse vertically into a "V" (seen from the side) as the rear stanchion is moved to its proximate position, giving the rack an overall appearance of an "M". When the rack is fully collapsed, it looks like an "I".In one version, a second pair of rails extends over the cab, vertically rotating on a second pair of hinges on the front stanchion. A cross member joins the front ends of these rails.In another version, the side rails are not mounted onto the stanchions by hinges, but by removable brackets; and the rails collapse horizontally rather than vertically. The over-cab rails are continuations of the side rails. The over-cab cross member can be divided in the middle, and its component parts swung horizontally along side the side rails.In all versions, the stanchions and cross members can be telescoped to fit differing widths of truck bed.
