摘要: A vehicle steering system is disclosed that includes a steering portion, a steered portion, and a clutch mechanism. The steering portion includes operations input mechanism and a reaction adding device. The steered portion includes steering controlled wheels and a steered force adding device. The clutch mechanism mechanically connects the steering portion and steered portion through an engagement. The clutch mechanism has a permanent magnet and an electromagnetic coil so as to form an electromagnetic clutch that releases when a current is applied such that a magnetic force in the direction that cancels a magnetic force of the permanent magnet is generated for the electromagnetic coil. The electromagnetic clutch engages when a current is not applied to the electromagnetic coil. The vehicle steering system further includes a controller that generates the magnetic force in the same direction as the magnetic force direction of the permanent magnet for the electromagnetic coil when an abnormality is generated for the steering system.

摘要: A power steering system for steering a vehicle includes a motor, a steering shaft coupled with dirigible wheels to be steered, a torque sensor for detecting a torque applied to the steering shaft, and a power converting mechanism, engaged with a power transmitting shaft and coupled with the dirigible wheels, for converting the driving power into a rotary power rotating the power transmitting shaft in one of two opposite directions depending on a direction of the torque. The power converting mechanism includes a power transmitting mechanism having a first gear for rotating in unison with the motor, a second and a third gears coupled with the first means for rotating in two opposite directions, a plate for selectively transmitting a rotational power of one of the second and the third gears to the power transmitting shaft depending on the direction of the torque, a pair of magneto-rheological fluids tightly sealed within a space between the second and the third gears and the plate respectively, and a pair of coils wound around the magneto-rheological fluids.

摘要: An auxiliary power source, for example, an electric motor, supplies the power assist for a steering unit via a worm gear (15, 16). The worm gear (15, 16) drives clutch hubs (22 and 23) in the opposite rotational directions. The auxiliary power can be transferred to a driven shaft (3) via a common clamping sleeve (27) that can be expanded polygonally by two rows of clamping bodies (28 and 30) into one or the other clutch hubs (22 or 23). The clamping sleeve (27) is slitted into functional segments (A and B). Depending on the direction of rotation of the steering spindle (1), one or the other functional segments (A or B) of the clamping sleeve (27) is always active. The clutch units (2) run in a lubricant so that there is little wear and tear. This steering system can be made at reasonable cost and takes little space for installation.

The clutch drums are continuously driven in opposite directions by the servomotor through gearing and are respectively engaged by jaws mounted on a pair of clutch carriers respectively keyed to the shaft sections of the steering shaft.

The first area is disposed on an inner wall of the carrier defining the through hole. The second area is disposed on an outer surface of the output shaft and is spline-fitted to the first area. The third area is disposed at a position that is on the outer surface of the output shaft and that is closer to the input shaft than the second area is to the input shaft. The third area has a shape that makes the third area rotatable while being fitted to the first area.

摘要: A rack-and-pinion steering system has a rack which is toothed on two sides and cooperates with two pinions. At least one of the pinions can be axially translated in dependence on forces acting between the rack and that pinion. This axial translation controls a clutch arrangement so that a servomotor continuously rotating in one direction can in each case be nonpositively coupled to one of the pinions or uncoupled from both pinions.

摘要: An electric power steering system includes a steering torque detecting device for detecting a steering torque applied between an input shaft connected to a steering wheel and an output shaft connected to a steering gear in response to an elastic deformation of an elastic member connecting the input shaft with the output shaft, an electric motor whose rotation is controlled by a control signal from a control device in response to a detecting signal from the steering torque detecting device, and a clutch device interposed between the electric motor and the output shaft and controlling an intermittent transmission of the rotation of the electric motor to the output shaft in response to the elastic deformation of the elastic member. Thereby, it is possible to improve the safety performance, the reliability and the steering wheel feeling of an electric power steering system.

摘要: A motor-driven power steering system equipped with a control unit (9) which controls the turn of a DC motor (13) as an auxiliary steering force on the basis of a steering torque signal from a steering torque sensor (2) that detects the rotational force of a steering wheel (1) and on the basis of a vehicle-speed signal from a vehicle-speed sensor (10), and which turns an electromagnetic clutch (16) on or off in order to effectively or ineffectively control the rotational force of the DC motor (13) as the auxiliary steering force. Further provided is a fail-safe relay (91) having a normally open contact (91b) on a line for supplying power to the electromagnetic clutch (16). Under an abnormal condition such as breakage in the power source wiring, the electromagnetic clutch (16) is shut off because of no energization of the fail-safe relay (91), and no auxiliary steering force is applied by the DC motor (13).
