Abstract:
A flatbed, step-deck, double-drop deck, or lowboy trailer assembly comprises a plurality of metal crossmembers extending in a transverse direction of the trailer assembly; a metal deck supported by the plurality of crossmembers, the metal deck having an upper deck surface and a lower deck surface; and a pair of parallel wooden boards extending in a longitudinal direction of the trailer assembly proximate respective laterally opposite sides of the trailer assembly. Each wooden board in the pair of wooden boards is located in a respective recessed portion of the metal deck. The lower deck surface is situated between and separates a lower surface of each wooden board from the plurality of metal cross members. The lower deck surface is welded to the plurality of crossmembers.
Abstract:
An axle assembly having a unitary trunnion bracket, an axle, and a support bracket. The unitary trunnion bracket may include an axle interface portion and a bracket interface portion. The bracket interface portion may extend from the axle interface portion. The axle may engage the axle interface portion. The support bracket may engage the bracket interface portion.
Abstract:
A trailer includes: a chassis; a floating coupling apparatus coupled to the chassis, a portion of the floating coupling apparatus configured to move in a vertical direction relative to the chassis; a kingpin attached to the floating coupling apparatus; a displacement-sensing device positioned between an attachment portion on the chassis and an attachment portion on the floating coupling apparatus, the displacement-sensing device configured to sense a load acting on the displacement-sensing device; and a fluid system in fluid communication with the displacement-sensing device.
Abstract:
A platform trailer neck reinforcement structure includes a first beam reinforcement structure that includes: (i) a first beam inner insert connected to an inner side of the first beam; and, (ii) and a first beam outer insert connected to an outer side of the first beam. The neck reinforcement structure also includes a second beam reinforcement structure that includes: (i) a second beam inner insert connected to an inner side of the second beam; and, (ii) and a second beam outer insert connected to an outer side of the second beam. Internal cross members extend between and interconnect the first beam inner insert and the second beam inner insert. A first group of external cross members are located between the first beam outer insert and the left side rail, and a second group of external cross members are located between the second beam outer insert and the right side rail. Each external cross member comprises an inner segment connected to an outer segment, said inner and outer segments of each external cross member of the first group connected respectively to the first beam outer insert and the left side rail, and the inner and outer segments of each external cross member of the second group connected respectively to the second beam outer insert and the right side rail.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a heavy-load transport vehicle (10) for transporting an elongated object, having a tractor (14), a multi-axle trailer (16) and a carrier (18) for the elongated object supported on the trailer and on the tractor (14), wherein the trailer (16) and the carrier (18) are rotatable in relation to each other about a vertical axis (52) of the transport vehicle (10). According to the invention the carrier is supported on the tractor (14) via a goose-neck (22), the trailer (16) has at least one rigid axle (42, 44) and at least one steering axle (40), and in a steering operation mode during the journey, the steering axle (40) of the trailer (16) is steerable in relation to the trailer (16) about the vertical axis (52) as a function of the rotational movements of the carrier (18).
Abstract:
A tow vehicle comprising a chassis and means for towing a vehicle or trailer attached to the chassis, the means for towing comprising a tow arm adapted to receive the vehicle to be towed, and a hitch attached to the chassis of the tow vehicle, wherein the tow arm is adapted to provide access to the hitch to allow attachment of the trailer to be towed to the hitch.
Abstract:
A modular trailer system is described, wherein a gooseneck, deck, and dolly are attachable to each other in a variety of ways. One configuration allows the gooseneck and dolly to be attached to either end of the deck. Another configuration allows the gooseneck and dolly to be attached directly to each other. This permits the method of transporting a deck to a site, and then returning the gooseneck and dolly to another location.
Abstract:
A platform trailer includes a neck reinforcement structure located in the neck region. The neck reinforcement structure includes a first beam reinforcement structure located adjacent an inner side of the first beam that is oriented toward the second beam, and a second beam reinforcement structure located adjacent an inner side of the second beam that is oriented toward the first beam. A plurality of internal cross members extend between and interconnect the first and second beam reinforcement structures. A fifth wheel plate is fixedly secured to and that extends between both the first and second beams. A kingpin is connected to the fifth wheel plate and is adapted to be engaged by an associated tractor fifth wheel. The neck reinforcement structure allows for use of aluminum alloy beams with a reduced height in the neck region of the trailer.
Abstract:
A steerable rear assembly is disclosed for a lowboy trailer. The assembly includes a lowboy trailer deck and a neck extending partially upwardly rearward and partially horizontally rearward from the deck. A front bogey is positioned beneath the horizontally extending portion of the neck, and the front bogey is connected to the neck by a horizontal pivot between the neck and the front bogey and by a turntable between the neck and the front bogey. A rear bogey is positioned behind the front bogey and is connected to the front bogey by a vertical pivot between the front and rear bogeys.
