摘要: An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) including wing sections and hinge assemblies. Each wing section includes an airfoil and a propulsion unit. The wing sections are arranged side-by-side, pivotably connected by the hinge assemblies to define an airframe module. The airframe module is transitionable between a fixed-wing state and a rotor state. In the fixed-wing state, the airframe module has an elongated shape extending between opposing, first and second ends. In the rotor state, the first end is immediately proximate the second end. With this construction, the UAV provides two distinct modes of flight (fixed-wing for low power flight, and rotor for high maneuverability flight (including hover)). The wing sections can carry solar cells and a battery. A maximum power point tracker (MPPT) can be provided for optimizing the match between the solar array and the battery. The propulsion unit can include a variable pitch propeller.

The lift body is made from a top shell and a bottom shell. The lift body has a nose and a tail. Multi-copter propellers are attached to the lift body. The multi-copter propellers provide a lift at low speeds and the lift body provides a lift at high speeds. Avionics can be stored in a hollow cavity of the lift body. The avionics may include a control circuit, batteries, and a radio receiver. The multi-copter has a lift body made from an upper shell and a lower shell. The lift body has an optimum attack angle at a cruising speed, and the lift body provides a combined lift mode.

摘要: In one aspect, there is provided a combination vehicle system, including a drone and a hovercraft body. The drone has a plurality of motor-driven rotors and a controller. The hovercraft body defines a ground-facing chamber having a hover air inlet, and includes a mount for the drone. The drone is removably connectable to the mount in a mounted position so as to form a hovercraft. The controller is programmed to drive the plurality of rotors to maintain stable flight of the drone without the hovercraft body connected thereto. The controller is programmed to drive the first rotor to at least partially lift the hovercraft off a support surface and to drive the second rotor to propel the hovercraft along the support surface.
