    摘要: A foil roll having a wound stiffener core formed from an initially flat sheet of stiffener material fed into a spiral roll winder simultaneously with a feed end of a foil web. An apparatus and method for spirally winding a foil roll with a wound stiffener core in which a stiffener sheet is fed into a roll winder in adjacent outward contact with a foil web and a leading edge of the stiffener slightly ahead of a feed end of a foil web. The stiffener sheet is outwardly disposed from the foil web and in adjacent contact with the roll starter guides to prevent contact between guides and the foil web during initial core formation. Roll starter guides are moved from contact with the outer periphery of the roll once the initial core is formed allowing a desired length of foil web to be spirally wound around the core without damage to the web. The apparatus is configured to receive a continuous supply of foil and stiffener web material, cut each to predetermined lengths, and sequentially form wound core foil rolls at an economically high rate.

    摘要: A winder for winding a web to produce a rolled product is provided. The winder includes a web transport apparatus that is used for conveying the web. Also included in one exemplary embodiment is a plurality of independent winding modules. The winding modules are independently positioned to independently engage the web as the web is conveyed by the web transport apparatus. The winding modules may be configured to wind the web to form a rolled product by center winding, surface winding, and combinations of center and surface winding. The winding modules are structurally and operationally independent of one another where if one module is disabled, another may still operate to produce the rolled product without shutting down the winder.

    摘要: A tail gap winder transfers a web from a first core to a second core by, immediately after the web is cut, pivoting the idler roller to lengthen the distance between the idler roller and the rotating drum to create a gap between the cut ends of the web; removing the first core from the rotating drum surface as the gap passes under the first core location; moving the second core into contact with the rotating drum surface; and winding the incoming cut edge around the second core. The idler roller pivots toward the rotating drum to decrease the distance between the idler roller and rotating drum and to take up the extra length of web during the winding portion of the operating cycle.

    摘要: Method and device to cut-off a running web of tearable material and to feed an end of the web to a reel around which the web is to be wound and supported respectively. The web of material is at the center portion of the web perforated by means of a cutting apparatus provided with a point. The cutting apparatus is moved at a speed which is lower than the speed of the feed of the web material, so that the web of material during its continued forward feed is torn apart from the area of the perforation in a direction to the two respective lateral edges of the web of material. The free end of the web of material thus being cut-off is guided by the cutting apparatus, so that it is introduced between the reel and the portion of the web of material which runs to the reel.
