摘要: An apparatus is provided for gathering signatures along a conveying section of a circulating conveyor provided with spaced-apart pushers that are attached to a traction mechanism. The apparatus includes a delivery station adapted for being arranged along the conveying section. The delivery station includes a downward slanted conveying path wherein the signatures are supplied via the downward slanted conveying path from the delivery station to the conveyor approximately in synchronism with movement of the circulating conveyor. The conveying path includes a convex conveying section followed by a concave conveying section in the conveying direction for the signatures.

摘要: During the gathering process, an individual signature is respectively withdrawn from several collections of identical signatures, wherein the various decollated signatures are delivered to a collecting conveyor in order to form stacks. In this case, the sheets need to be reliably and carefully decollated. The invention proposes that the sheets (3) of a collection are made available in the form of a stack (4), wherein the stack (4) is essentially supported by an air cushion (LP), that the bottom sheet (3) is at least regionally lifted off the stack (4) with the aid of a separating tool (30), that the air cushion (LP) is produced between the bottom sheet (3) and the residual stack (4), and that the sheet (3) is delivered to the collecting conveyor (10). The lifted-off sheet is completely separated from the stack by the air cushion such that the sheet can be transported out of the magazine with absolutely no friction relative to the stack (4) situated above the separated sheet.

摘要: During the gathering process, an individual signature is respectively withdrawn from several collections of identical signatures, wherein the various decollated signatures are delivered to a collecting conveyor in order to form stacks. The invention proposes that the sheets (3) of a collection (4) are transported in a direction that is essentially oriented transverse to the transport direction (F) of the collecting container (10) in the form of continuous stream feed (4) of sheets (3) that lie on top of one another in a shingled fashion, that the respective front sheet (3) is taken hold of by a conveyor (42) on its leading section such that it is prevented from turning and displaced such that it is deflected in the transport direction (F) of the collecting conveyor (10), and that the displaced sheet (3) is received by a withdrawal conveyor system (50) and additionally transported in said transport direction (F) in order to synchronously deliver the sheets (3) to the collecting conveyor (10) in the corresponding cycle. This makes it possible to reliably and carefully process sheets supplied in the form of stream feeds without intermediately storing the sheets in magazines and decollating the sheets anew from the stacks.

摘要: The invention refers to a method and an apparatus for gathering flat printed products by selecting a single printed product from each of a multitude of collections of identical printed products and conveying the selected printed products towards a collecting conveyor (10), which runs along a generally straight line in a first direction (11).To improve the transfer of the flat printed products to the downstream machinery, it is suggested to advance the printed products in a second direction (15) in a continuous flow of printed products with a feeder (1) with feeding elements upstream of the collecting conveyor (10), grip a leading portion (20) of a printed product at the discharge end of said feeder (1) by separating grippers (60) of a transferring conveyor (40) which is also arranged up-stream of the collecting conveyor (10) and transfer the gripped printed product with the transferring conveyor (40) substantially along a path, which takes its course generally along the first direction (11) of the collecting conveyor (10).

摘要: Inserting systems and methods are provided for use in sheet processing. The inserting systems and methods provide improved handling of sheet articles during processing. Sheet articles can be advantageously and efficiently advanced in separate stacks and later combined for insertion into an envelope. For insertion into an envelope, the mouth of the envelope can be selectively variably opened depending upon the amount of insertion material to go into the envelope where the amount an envelope is to be opened can be based upon processing or job information. Sheet articles can be registered and aligned to facilitate processing efficiencies. Sheet articles with creases, such as envelopes with mouth flaps, can be processed through a roller system to bend the crease so that the flap of the envelope assumes a desired position for subsequent processing. Additionally, sheet articles can be processed through a staging station with increased capacity for sheet processing.

摘要: A transport and alignment system is provided for handling stacked sheet material on a support deck including first and second belts each having a portion thereof disposed parallel to the support deck. Each of the belts includes a plurality of spaced-apart fingers which engage the edges of the stacked sheet material and define a pocket therebetween. The transport and alignment system further includes a drive mechanism for independently driving the first and second belts to effect concurrent and relative motion of the fingers. Concurrent motion of the fingers transports the stacked sheet material along the support deck while relative motion of the fingers opposed edges of the stacked sheets of material. The transport and alignment system is described in the context of a stitcher and chassis module of a mailpiece inserter.

摘要: A collating apparatus and method to merge different types of document sets into a single collated packet prior to a mail processing insertion operation. The collating device utilizes a synchronous conveyor pathway for conveying different types of document sets serially down the pathway and merging them into a single collated packet. The document sets are delivered downstream with a combination of pivotable and fixed position pusher members and are combined into a single collated packet in any desired order.
