摘要: An apparatus for folding paper-like objects utilizing a housing which supports a tray. The tray includes a surface which is angled downwardly relative to a horizontal plane to permit gravity feed of paper objects along the tray. A first roller fixed along its axis is supported by the housing while a second adjustable roller is also mounted to the housing. The adjustment is determined by mounting the axle of the second roller in an eccentric collar which moves the axis of the second roller when the collar is rotated.

摘要: Media is transported to an imaging region using a vacuum feeder. A vacuum head is positioned onto the media and a vacuum is applied to the vacuum head to hold the media against the vacuum head. The vacuum head is then relocated to the imaging region carrying with it the media. In one embodiment, the vacuum head holds the media slightly above the surface of the imaging region. After the media is imaged, the vacuum head moves the media to an output region. In the output region the vacuum is removed from the vacuum head allowing the media to detach from the vacuum head and remain in the output region. In another embodiment, the vacuum is removed from the vacuum head allowing the media to detach from the vacuum head and remain in the imaging region. A second vacuum head is positioned in the imaging region onto the media and a vacuum is applied to the second vacuum head to hold the media against the second vacuum head. The second vacuum head is then relocated to the output region carrying with it the media. The second vacuum head moves the media to an output region. In the output region the vacuum is removed from the second vacuum head allowing the media to detach from the second vacuum head and remain in the output region.

摘要: Contact roller systems comprising several hollow cylindrical roller segments (2) that are mounted next to each other on the front face side in such a way that they can rotate freely on a continuous shaft (1) are already known per se in winding machines. According to the invention, the internal bearing parts of a roller segment (2) terminate on at least one axial end at a distance (4) from the front face of the roller segment (2). A free space is thus formed, whereby parts of a support bearing (5) which supports the shaft (1) and/or parts of an adjusting lever (6) can be arranged therein. The support bearing (5) and/or the adjusting lever (6) have an annular groove (7) in which the end of the roller segment (2) can rotate in a contactless manner. It is possible to keep the gap between two adjacent roller segments (2) as small as possible in order to avoid markings, while still allowing the support bearing (5) and/or adjusting lever (6) to act.

摘要: A process and apparatus related to a workstation adjacent to a traveling web including a device for intermittently performing an operation affecting the web. An important application involves ultrasonically welding multiple layers of a traveling web. First and second rollers on opposite sides of the workstation are simultaneously shifted in a direction counter to the machine direction each time a bonding force is applied. The overall running speed in the machine remains at a constant velocity due to the resultant festooning effect and thus the dwell time for bonding is increased. Thus the effective operating speed of processed having finite limits may be increased at least 33%. The first and second rollers are eccentrically rotationally mounted, respectively, on third and fourth hollow rollers which are provided with eccentrically positioned hollow cylindrical openings which, in turn, are mounted, respectively, on shafts positioned perpendicularly to the machine direction. Shifting of the rollers is effected by simultaneous rotation of the rollers. Preferably, the first and second rollers are driven synchronously in a first rotational direction and the third and fourth rollers are driven synchronously in the opposite rotational direction.

摘要: A mixed mail stacking method and apparatus using a nip to ingest incoming mailpieces, a set of rollers to move the ingested mailpieces toward a registration wall, and a sensor upstream from the nip to detect the mailpieces. When the sensor detects the trailing edge of an ingested mailpiece, it causes the moving devices to pause, leaving a section of the ingested mailpiece sticking out of the nip. When the sensor detects the leading edge of the following mailpiece, it sets the moving devices in motion again so that the ingested mailpiece and the following mailpiece partially overlap when the following mailpiece is ingested by the nip. As such, the ingested mailpieces are shingled before they are moved toward the registration wall for stacking, preventing leading to trailing edge collisions. With the sensor to control the moving devices, the stacker is capable of stacking a wide variety of mail with a wide range of sizes without adjustment.
