Abstract:
An automated banking machine is operable to cause financial transfers responsive to data read from data bearing records. The machine includes a card reader that can read from cards, user data that corresponds to financial accounts. The machine can operate responsive to the read card data to carry out transactions that transfer and/or allocate funds between accounts. The machine can provide a transaction receipt. The machine includes a cash dispenser to dispense cash to machine users. Value of dispensed cash can be assessed to an account which corresponds to read card data. The machine also includes a check acceptor device that can receive checks from users. The machine can image a received check and then read check data from the check image. An account determined from read card data can be credited the amount of the check.

Abstract:
An apparatus for identifying and gluing the final edge of a log of web material is disclosed. The apparatus of the present invention uses an upper unwinding roller, a lower unwinding roller, an unwinding nozzle, and an unwinding detector for identifying the final edge of the log of web material. The log of web material is transferred by an upper belt and a lower belt to a gluing module for gluing the final edge to the log of web material.
Abstract:
A method of scanning documents and moving such documents along a path such that after scanning sorting such documents is disclosed. The method includes providing a plurality of documents in an input tray and transporting each document along the path from the input tray at a transport velocity past the scanner to obtain scanned image data. The method further includes providing at least two movable members including two rotatable exit rollers, movable belts, or a movable belt and a rotatable exit roller along the path to provide a nip for the documents; and selectively driving the movable members to provide selectable exit velocities so that such documents are sorted in accordance with their selected exit velocity.
Abstract:
A sheet post-processing device includes: a temporary holding unit temporarily holding a sheet supplied by an image forming apparatus; and a shifting unit performing a shifting operation on a sheet bundle, the sheet bundle including two or more sheet, wherein an extra sheet not included in the sheet bundle is supplied to the shifting unit without temporarily holding the extra sheet in the temporary holding unit or by shortening a holding duration time in the temporary holding unit; and when the shifting operation is not completed on a sheet in queue immediately before the extra sheet when the extra sheet is received, the shifting unit is set to a waiting condition until the extra sheet is supplied to the shifting unit.
Abstract:
A recording apparatus for forming an image on a recording medium, including: a recording head; a conveyor belt to convey the medium in a conveyance direction; an attraction device including a first electrode having first extending portions and a second electrode having second extending portions and configured to permit the belt to generate an attractive force to attract the medium to the belt by giving mutually different potentials to the first and second electrodes; and, a pressing device including a contact member having electrical conductivity and disposed at a position where the contact member is opposed to respective upstream sections of the first and second extending portions, which upstream sections are located on an upstream side of the head in the conveyance direction, the contact member being configured to contact the medium placed on the belt, the pressing device being configured to press the medium onto the belt by the contact member.
Abstract:
A method for positioning a second flat item atop a flat first item includes the steps of: providing a first conveyor for transporting the first item and rotatably mounting a hard nip roller on an axle so that the hard nip roller engages the first conveyor. A second conveyor for transporting the second item is disposed at an angle relative to the first conveyor and a discharge end of the second conveyor meets the first conveyor at the hard nip roller. First and second soft nip rollers are mounted on the axle on opposite sides of the hard nip roller and are spaced apart from one another by a distance less than a width of the second item. The hard nip roller and the first and second soft nip rollers simultaneously engage the second item and separate it from the second conveyor, depositing the second item onto the first item.
Abstract:
Paper webs are wound up or supplied to units of a rotary printing press, such as a longitudinal fold former. Flexible endless or open ended traction devices are used. Paper webs are secured to the traction devices in a positive manner. The paper webs or their starting ends can be secured together only for purposes of being fed through the longitudinal fold former.
Abstract:
The apparatus has an intermediate conveyor (18) with conveying elements (26) distributed in the circumferential direction on bearing plates (36). Each conveying element (26) has a roller segment (54), which is driven counter to the direction of circulation (U), and a belt conveyor (56) which is assigned to said roller segment. A control device (48) keeps the conveying elements (26) in a mutually parallel position during circulation in the direction of circulation (U). During movement past the receiving location (16), a rear section (82) of the roller segment (54) and the belt conveyor (56) form an introduction gap (24) for a product (14) fed by a feed conveyor (12) in each case. During further rotation, said product (14) is moved through the conveying element (26), in the conveying gap (90) now formed by the roller segment (54) and belt conveyor (56), and is deflected by means of the guide element (92). At the transfer location (50), the product (14) is thus introduced into a gripper (96) of a removal conveyor (52), whereupon the conveying gap (90) is eliminated. The apparatus, while maintaining the sequence of the products (14), changes the position of the latter such that the sides (20, 20′) of the products (14), said sides facing one another in the fed imbricated stream (S), are changed round.
Abstract:
A document feed component is presented comprising a foamed epichlorohydrin elastomer, a curing agent, and a blowing agent, wherein the document feed component has a dynamic coefficient of friction in the range of about 1.0 to about 3.0, a Shore O hardness in the range of about 2 to about 85, a compression set of less than about 12%, and a resistance to wear of less than about 0.05 g/hr. The elastomer optionally further includes activators, polymerization accelerators, and a filler material. An important feature of the present invention is that the use of a foamed epichlorohydrin elastomer does not require the use of processing aids and migratory additives. Consequently, the document feed component has the advantage of not contaminating paper or other media with which they come into contact, even for extended periods of time, while maintaining other advantageous properties, such as a high dynamic coefficient of friction, low hardness, low % compression set, and excellent resistance to ultraviolet light and ozone. The document feed component may be shaped as a roller, wheel, belt, pad or the like.
