摘要:
Disclosed is a lower molding die for receiving a molten glass droplet which is dripped. A cover layer is formed on a substrate with an intermediate layer therebetween, and a roughening process is performed on the surface of the cover layer in order to increase arithmetic average roughness Ra. The surface of the cover layer subjected to the roughening process has an arithmetic average roughness Ra of 0.01 μm or more, and an average length RSm of a roughness curvilinear element of 0.5 μm or less.
摘要:
A process for stably and efficiently producing quality glass articles such as preforms at high yields, and a process for producing an optical device from the preform obtained by the above process. In the process for producing a glass article, molten glass gobs having a predetermined weight each are poured, or molten glass drops having a predetermined weight each are dropped through a nozzle, into a boiling liquid having a boiling point lower than the class transition temperature of the glass constituting said glass article or a liquid which is temperature-adjusted beforehand so as to be caused to boil by the amount of heat of the glass, to form glass articles.

An apparatus for converting molten glass containing radioactive waste into molded pellets or spheres comprising means for generating a flowing stream of the molten glass and a rotating wheel disposed beneath the flowing stream. The wheel is preferably mounted for rotation about a horizontal axis and has a series of mold cavities formed in the circumferential wall of the wheel, into which cavities the stream is directed by gravity. The mold cavities have flared side walls so that when the stream strikes the inclined wall it is deflected toward the center of the cavity through a focal point. The side walls of adjacent mold cavities form a knife edge at the surface of the wheel to preclude the bridging of glass from one cavity to another.

An apparatus for manufacturing a vitreous blast furnace slag, comprises a rotary drum having a circular barrel formed by endlessly connecting a plurality of rectangular cooling metal members, each of said cooling metal members having a plurality of narrow and deep cooling grooves on the outer surface thereof for rapidly cooling and solidifying a molten blast furnace slag into a vitreous blast furnace slag; a driving mechanism for rotating said rotary drum; a molten blast furnace slag feeder arranged above said rotary drum for pouring a molten blast furnace slag into said cooling grooves; a stripper stationarily arranged at a prescribed position adjacent to the inner surface of the barrel of said rotary drum, for taking out a cooled and solidified vitreous blast furnace slag in said cooling grooves; and, a cooling tank containing cooling water, arranged below said rotary drum so that the lower portion of the barrel of said rotary drum is immersed in the cooling water for cooling said cooling metal members heated by the high-temperature molten blast furnace slag poured into said cooling grooves.

摘要:
Disclosed herein is a glass whose viscosity index (A) defined as a value obtained by dividing the viscosity of the glass at the liquidus temperature thereof by the liquidus temperature of the glass is in the range of 0.0004 to 1.5. Such a glass is melted in a melting furnace equipped with a nozzle, and the molten glass is dropped from the nozzle intermittently and regularly to obtain glass droplets. The glass droplet naturally dropped from the nozzle is received by a receiving mold to form a glass gob. The glass gob can be used as a preform for reheating molding. Further, it is possible to produce an optical glass element having no plane defect such as a shear mark by press-molding a hot glass gob with an upper mold just after the glass gob is received by the receiving mold.
