    摘要: A coupler apparatus for installing a pipe and a protective cover into a borehole includes a first coupler half and a second coupler half. Both halves include a leading edge and at least one slot disposed in an outer surface configured to allow a fluid to pass by the coupler apparatus as the coupler apparatus is pulled through the borehole. A fastening means joins the first coupler half to the second coupler half about the pipe and the protective cover. The coupler apparatus formed by the first coupler half joined to the second coupler is configured to capture the protective cover at a location on the pipe for the installation of the pipe with the protective cover into the borehole. A method is also described.

At least two shock absorbers are positioned on the second external surface and extend along the second longitudinal axis between the third end and the fourth end. The body (56), outer sleeve (62), and clamping rings (70) may be formed from one or more sacrificial materials that can break up and be circulated out of the wellbore.

    摘要: An attachment and fastener system rigidly secures a rotatable drill pipe protector (RDPP) to a drill pipe. The RDPP comprises a sleeve which is split axially along at least one side. Parallel hinge bars are contained in first and second hinge sections which wrap around the hinge bars along opposite sides of the opening in the RDPP. One hinge bar is rotatable in the first hinge section. A series of axially spaced apart bolts are held in corresponding threaded openings in the rotatable hinge bar which rotates about its axis to swing the bolts in unison between open and closed positions. The other hinge bar has a series of threaded receptor openings facing outwardly from slotted openings in the second hinge section and aligned with the bolts on the other hinge bar. The rotating hinge bar swings the bolts into alignment with the slotted openings in the other hinge, after which the bolts are tightened in the threaded receptor openings for applying a holding force around the drill pipe. The hinges which wrap around each hinge bar are formed on the ends of a reinforcing cage structure molded into the wall of the RDPP.

A landing string is connected to the tubular string such as casing, production and/or testing assemblies. The apparatus comprises a floatation module attached to the landing string and a clamp for clamping the floatation module onto the landing string. In one embodiment, the floatation module comprises a tubular sleeve having a buoyant material applied thereto. The tubular sleeve includes slots. The clamp may contain a set of dies adapted to engage the slots of the tubular sleeve. A method of landing a work string into a sub-sea well head from a floating drilling rig is also disclosed, wherein a marine riser connects the rig to the sub-sea well head.

    摘要: A one-piece wire guard device formed of non-metallic material for use in wells includes an inner ring having a split therein defining an opening and having a portion of reduced thickness defining a hinge is disclosed. Arcuate sections are disposed concentrically outwardly of the inner ring and are connected to the latter by ribs. The ribs, arcuate sections and inner ring cooperate with each other to define openings for accommodating electric wires, ropes and the like therethrough. A guard device may be flexed about its hinge from a normally closed condition to an open position to permit a drop pipe to be inserted through the opening defined by the split. Releasably locking means, including an elongated locking element, lock the guard device upon the drop pipe. Spacer tabs extend outwardly from the arcuate sections and engage a well casing to space the drop pipe from the casing and thereby prevent damage to the drop pipe, electrical wires, safety ropes and the like extending through the guard device.

These are particularly concerned with optimising the bearing arrangements to promote thin film lubrication and to employ sacrificial self-lubrication when such thin film lubrication breaks down, configuring the assembly to promote fluid flow around and through the assembly and the avoidance of snagging of the assembly on downhole obstructions.
