    摘要: A kinetic fluid energy to mechanical energy conversion system includes hubs that are rotatable with respect to a hub carrier and support one or more independently controlled articulating energy conversion plates (“ECP”) and a track orientation control mechanism (“TOCM”) for alternating the independent control of each ECP in response to operating conditions. Each ECP has opposed surfaces and leading and trailing edges and may have one or more lips projecting from one of the opposed surfaces, wherein the one or more lips comprise at least an inboard end lip extending transversely from an inboard end of the plate. Articulation of each ECP is controlled by a follower within a track that is rotatable with respect to the hub carrier, and service lines pass through a chase or bore passing through the hub carrier to bring power and/or control signals to the TOCM for effecting controlled, powered rotation of the track.

A generator is positioned within the base and a shaft is mechanically coupled to the generator. A plurality of arms radiates outwardly from the shaft and a plurality of sets of blades is pivotally attached to a respective one of the plurality of arms. Each of the sets of blades is positionable in a deployed position or a stored position. A plurality of actuators is coupled between a respective one of the plurality of arms and a respective one of the plurality of sets of blades. A wind direction sensor is integrated into the shaft to indicate a direction of the wind. Each of the plurality of actuators is actuated to urge the respective blades between the deployed position and the stored position depending on the direction of wind.

Coordinated braking of a plurality of geographically-associated fluid turbines includes accessing memory storing information indicative of a tolerance threshold for an operating parameter associated with the plurality of geographically-associated fluid turbines; receiving information from a sensor indicative of the operating parameter for a particular fluid turbine among the plurality of geographically-associated fluid turbines; comparing the information indicative of the operating parameter for the particular fluid turbine with the tolerance threshold; determining, based on the comparison, whether the operating parameter for the particular fluid turbine deviates from the tolerance threshold; and upon a determination that the operating parameter for the particular fluid turbine deviates from the tolerance threshold, sending a braking signal to each of the geographically-associated fluid turbines to slow each of the geographically-associated fluid turbines.

    摘要: A flow power plant comprises a rotor rotating about a rotation axis and having a plurality of pivoting blades. Each pivoting blade is mounted to the rotor for pivoting between a position pivoted-in towards and a position pivoted-out away from the rotation axis. One separate electric machine operable both as a motor and as a generator is assigned to each pivoting blade for applying torques between the rotor and the pivoting blade. A controller separately controls the separate electric machines during each revolution of the respective pivoting blade together with the rotor around the rotation axis in such a way that a predetermined course of a pivot angle of the respective pivoting blade results between the pivoted-in position and the pivoted-out position. The predetermined course of the pivot angle is predetermined for a maximum recovery of energy from a flow flowing against the rotor transversely to the rotation axis.

    摘要: A wind driven turbine is capable of generating electricity in a wide range of wind speeds and in any wind direction. The turbine employs sets of vertical blades that rotate a vertical drive shaft which in turn attaches on its lower end to an electricity generator. Each set of vertical blades is pivotally attached to a central support member so that the blades pivot toward each other to a closed position when rotating into the wind to provide less surface area for the wind to exert force against. Blades of each set of vertical blades also pivot away from each other when rotating away from the wind to provide more surface area for the wind to exert force against. The force of the wind on the blades causes them to pivot open and closed and to cause the drive shaft to rotate.
